Why not get an International Driver's license? I hear that surpasses all that kind of stuff. Anybody out there know if that is true?

Sounds to me like you have an awful lot of "accidental" brushes with the law.

Crime has CONSEQUENCES . Look on the bright side, Ohio is not a three strikes state. There are many things a Liberal judge will permit, but contempt of court is not one of them.

You are in the NCIC and any traffic stop in any state will now result in your immediate arrest. There are two ways to deal with this "youthful indiscretion".If choose, you can report to your local sheriffs office, and let Ohio deal with extradition, or you can sneak into Ohio, preferably on a bus and then turn yourself in to the authorities. That will save you money as you will be charged for the trip and escort.

PS be real nice to the Booking officer at the jail, you really do not want to end up in the wrong cell. But if you do end up in the wrong cell, remember your maxim, "I just want to get it over with", don't scream.

Well, lets go 2 years after this (I am now 27 years old) where I found myself in a grocery store, in a different Ohio county. My arms were full of stuff I was planning to buy, so I stuffed a couple of things in my coat pocket, so I could get them to the checkout. Well the store security nailed me for shoplifting, called the cops and I end up in court again. After explaining to the judge that I didn't actually take anything from the store, they dropped the charge down to something called "abuse of property". Little did I realize that by pleading guilty to this and paying a minor fine (I think it was $25) I had technically triggered a probation violation from 2 years before. Again, I just wanted to get out of there, and be done with it.

That doesn't sound right. In New York I believe it's still true that you must leave a store with the merchandise to have committed a crime. Some lawyer should be able to make it not worth their while to persue the matter.

I think the key is to make it more trouble for them than for you.

Okay, let me see.

Assault. (Not your fault though, someone else was harassing a girl)

DUI. (Not your fault, the owner made you drink several margaritas and then made you move your car)

Illegally removing crime evidence (Not your fault because your brother knew this guy)

Failure to appear in court for the DUI (not your fault cause you illegally obtained a license in another state)

Illegally obtaining a license (If you had informed the DMV that your license was confiscated by Ohio state they would never have issued you a new license)

Abuse of Property (Not your fault cause you didn't know you couldn't hide stuff in your pockets)

You didn't notice that you were given a 3 year probation period.

You didn't know pleading guilty would trigger a probation violation.

Anyone else notice a pattern here?

FoxPro, grow up. You (and only you) made your bed. Now sleep in it.

This does not help you but in a related storyabout 12 years ago in Vegas a baliff came to the door and arrested my girlfriend at 6 o'clock just as we were sitting down to dinner. The kids were crying as mom was handcuffed.
The baliff would not let me go pay the fine. He insisted she had to go to jail.
She had recieved a ticket for the dog not being on a leash about 4 months before this.
And for that they sent a officer to the door and took her to jail.

Get a lawyer who is a member of the Ohio bar. Have him or her look into the matter and see if it can be mediated. This can be done without entering the state if you're worried about a warrant.

And for Pete's sake don't screw up again. At least not while this is pending - that's what got you into it in the first place.

Nothing is ever your fault, is it? Three charges, and they're all just little misunderstandings. Funny.

Let's make it simple.

1) Don't go to Ohio. Ever.
2) Don't get a new drivers license (keep and use the old number - and memorize so you have a reason not to carry it).
3) If stopped, claim it's in your glove compartment and then that's it stolen when it's not there. Or carry a money clip, a credit card, and no wallet.

Sleep like a baby and ignore them until they come after you (probably never).

The first thing that I noticed about your post is that you apparantly are not willing to accept the responsibility for your irresponsible acts. The only suggestion I have for you now is to leave the country, sneak back in and apply for a new drivers license as an alien. From what I understand, they don't do any background checks on illegals.

FoxPro, try this joke on Dear Abby, or on her sister - they occasionally fall for these kinds of fratboy put ons (as does, unfortunately, a lot of my fellow FReepers. Oy!)

Ok - 2 things.

1. Consider life as a fugitive. It could be fun assuming a fake identity and going on the lam - always trying to be one step ahead of the law. And I don't think they will feature you on AMERICA'S MOST WANTED - so see how long you can last as JOHN JONES. Invent the past that you never really had. Hey - maybe take the wife - maybe not. Do you really like her? Yeah - you probably love her - but do you still like her? It could be fun to dump the life you have and assume a new one. Become a logger, or work on an oil rig - think about what you might always have wanted to do but couldn't because of the obligations society placed on you. Maybe even become an alcoholic and get in real bar fights and such.

OR

2. Get the best lawyer you can afford that has experience in that venue. Yeah - probably pay $200 an hour or something like that - but if #1 above does not sound appealling and neither does spending some time in the pokey - a good lawyer is what you need.

Oh, another thing - when you end up in jail, this is the first thing you need to do:

Find the biggest guy and kick his ass. Then no one will make you their bitch. And if you know that you are going in - get some ink - Spider web on the elbow and a teardrop under one of your eyes. Learn some gang hand signs too - they might come in handy.

My driver's license has now expired, and they will not issue me a new one in my current state of residence (or any other state for that matter).

Screw 'em ! I've been driving around with a learner's permit for 14 years. I flunked the road test once and never went back. Had forgotten all about it 'till just now. LOL! No harm, no foul. :)

I don't think Fox is a criminal. I never had a brush with the law until I about 10 years ago. I was picked up on a DUI on New Year's Eve. I passed someone that was going all over the road, I exceeded the speed limit by 6 miles during that pass, less than 1/8 of a mile form my destination and had been dancing all night long, I was stopped by a SPOT (Special Police Officer Training) cop for speeding. I passed the sobriety test which he made me take without my coat on on one of the busiest intersections in Va Beach, on one of the coldest nights, he got me for DUI because of my pupils. My BAC was .185, I went before the magistrate, got my court date and they let me go, and allowed someone to come and get my car for me. My Court date was on 2/14, the judge threw out the DUI because he felt the cop had no right to pull me over. It still haunts me though, myself that is, not publically.

Next time I was arrested for waiting for friends in the backseat of the car outside a club after having been at the beach all day long, I was dozing because I did not feel like going into the Club after being in the sun all day and having some wine. When the cop asked if I had drank during the day, I said "yes." He arrested me for being drunk in public, no testing, breath or otherwise. It was a $35.00 fine, I mailed it in instead of missing time from work. I did not look close enough at the citation, for it deemed that I had just incurred a misdemeanor which I now have to write down each time I apply for a job.

Next time I was out with friends trying to cheer me up after a miscarriage, I passed out as I was going out the door, and fell on the bouncer, from the smoke, music, heat and just the atmosphere. The Bouncer assumed I was drunk, and pushed me literally out of the bar. I fell into the wall, as I was still passed out, and slit my head open, requiring stitches. My friends came out after I had them paged when I came to, and took me to the hospital and then home, knowing that I had just been on my way out to get some air when I passed out. Three weeks later I come home from work and there is a business card on my door telling me to come to the police station. As a good citizen I do. I am arrested for simple assault for pushing the Bouncer. Now I am 5'4", 145 pounds, no way a big woman. As I did not recall the situation due to being passed out, I had no defense. My friends came to Court told them they did not witness anything, but told them I had said I was going outdoors because of the smoke and heat, and that I had just miscarried one month before (there was also a history of me losing my balance after the miscarriage). My attorney said we could try to canvass who may have been there that night and seen something, but people usually did not like to come forward, if we were able to find anyone at all that may have seen anything, it was the summer in Va Beach, land of the tourist, and that it would cost me a great deal, I just had incurred a 8th month miscarriage, and $12,000 in hospital and doctor's bills, I could not afford a maybe - I had a $1,500 dollar attorney fee. I went to Court, the bouncer said he did not want me in the bar, which was fine with me, I had to be good for a year, and do 100 hours of community service, and all charges would be dropped from my record. I completed them, and never returned to the club, turned in my paperwork, and pray that it never sees the light again.

Now I did nothing wrong, with the exception of the DUI. But, that means nothing, not the DUI, but my actions. Sometimes people do do nothing, and still somehow get caught in a system that can cause havic in their lives. The simplest thing can mean a life of regret. This Bouncer pressing charges three weeks later, he only had my name because he asked for it, I thought because I was bleeding, and so I gave it to him. If I assaulted him, how come no cops that night, why wait three weeks? I think that the Judge found it odd that this Bouncer was accussing me of assault, the Bouncer did wear his glasses to Court that day instead of his contacts, but I always wear glasses, and I was half his size. My whole point though is that anyone can get caught, even if they did nothing. I hate when people pass judgement when they were not there, and did not see anything, and are only hearing part of a story.
