In discussions I have had with people, particularly blacks, who vote democrat, I have come to the conclusion that the majority of them have no real idea of what that means. It is very easy for FReepers to assume that voters know who they're voting for and why because we ourselves keep informed and wouldn't think of voting somebody into office without knowing what they're about. I would go so far as to suggest that we are perhaps one of the best informed groups of individuals in the country. But in discussing politics with ordinary citizens, I have discovered that many don't have a clue what the difference is between a democrat and a republican, and if the Rats have their way, they will never sort it out.
