The front page photos from last Thursday sent the message to some readers that only black men commit murder. That was a mistake. In addition, the stories didn't address a key question: Why are there no white suspects on the loose? That also was a mistake.
Our first story should have looked harder at this question. The Daily News apologizes for the error.
Let me guess as to what the answer to this question is: evil whitey racist cops.

These 41 were identified by the Police Department's Homicide Unit as suspects for whom murder warrants have been issued. There were no white people who were being sought for murder. Time to bring back Little Nicky Scarfo.

I wonder what they'll say when they publish the pictures in the best inner city basketball players, all the new employees at the post office or the newly promoted fire chiefs.

I am waiting for the WSJ to apologize for only showing white men as perps in the accounting scandals.

Why are there no white suspects on the loose? Gee, why is that Mr. Reporter, oracle of all that is good and righteous?
There were no white people who were being sought for murder.
Asked and answered-What a bunch of dumbasses...

I suggest that next week they have some white reporters kill Editors, thus bringing some racial balanceto the Murder statistics.

What a bunch of wimps--apologizing for printing the TRUTH.
I happen to be reading Bernard Goldberg's "BIAS" at the moment. I just finished the chapter, "I Thought Our Job Was To Tell the Truth". It sums up pretty well how political correctness has run amok in the news business.
Goldberg cites the example of a reporter named Larry Doyle who was sent by CBS Evening News to do a piece on chain gangs in Alabama. The boss at the time, one Al Berman, was incensed when Doyle came back with footage of a gang in which all but one of the prisoners was white. It was aired before the censors (senior producers) could manipulate it to represent the party line.
~excerpt~
"I shot what was there," Doyle told Berman. Berman told Doyle to be "more careful" next time. To get more pictures of white criminals "next time".
The conversation was idiotic as far as Doyle was concerned. There was just ONE WHITE CRIMINAL. What was he supposed to do? This was Alabama, for chrissake! Not (bleeping) Switzerland!"
Hey, Daily News: You're in Philadelphia, not friggin' Switzerland!!

So, does this mean that there are white suspects, but were not shown by the newspaper, or were all 41 suspects non-white?
To: Michael2001
The simple liberals at the Philadelphia Daily News just love to wring their hands and apologize and pander. This is nothing new at that paper. Believe it or not, the Philadelphia Inquirer is even worse.
I keep waiting for these two sick mouthpieces for the DNC to just fold and go away, but I suppose they will merge first. Boy, won't that be a treat.
To: Michael2001
There were no white people who were being sought for murder. Maybe, if the newspaper liberals feel so apologetic about it, they should put their mugshots in the paper next to the murder suspects whenever they run out of white suspects.
Here on the central California coast, we have a virtual epidemic of gang violence and other serious felonies by hispanic men. So much goes unreported in the local newspapers because the local liberals don't want to scare the tourists away.

Speaking as a black person and a journalist, this is the most idiotic apology I've ever read in a newspaper. I actually went to the Daily News Web site to make sure this wasn't some kind of bizarre joke.
I'm embarassed that so many murders are committed by black people. But that's just the truth, and as journalists, we're supposed to deal in truth. The idea of apologizing for telling the truth is so mind-numbingly stupid I scarcely know where to begin. Guess I better add the Daily News to the list of papers where I'll never send my resume...

Talk about "balance -- The Daily News ought to also maintain some fairness in reporting by foregoing
human marriage and birth announcements once in a while, and remember there are
other mammals in this world (HELL-O!) besides homosapiens who
also happen to have relationships and babies....
Shouldn't an enlightened newspaper like the News realize how much more we'd respect them if a picture of the usual smirking human bride was occassionly replaced a headshot of a newly betrothed beagle-bride?
To: Michael2001
This is so stupid. What in the world is wrong with focusing on finding fugitives, and how is the average person going to identify them without a picture?
To: Michael2001
There are no white people wanted for murder in the city. That means all the black victims were killed by non-white suspects. Who is owed an apology? I say the murderers (who just happen to be non-white) owe the city an apology. But how useful is that? If an apology is all that's necessary, then you didn't do that much wrong, did you? What a STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPID editorial staff.

I've been sitting here trying to make a joke that would parody or satirize this news item. I can't come up with anything funnier than the original article. The legal term is res ipsa loquitur --the thing speaks for itself.
