Greenpeace backs the dictator Mugabe
The New Australian ^ | September 2002 | Gerard Jackson

John Prendergast, an American researcher who heads the Africa program for the Belgian-based International Crisis Group, accused the corrupt Marxist-Leninist Robert Mugabe of using the his control of the food supply to intimidate his opponents into voting for him.

Mr Prendergast claimed that Mugabe had threatened “selective starvation” by telling local district officials that he would the government’s monopoly of the food distribution network to terminate food supplies if “if they didn’t deliver the vote.” This is a very serious threat in a country that is already suffering severe food shortages and is, according to reports, on the verge of famine. The United Nations World Food Program warned that 6 million Zimbabweans or more of the country’s population of 12 million could face severe food shortages and starvation.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, Mugabe is still implementing policies that have devastated the country’s agricultural sector and ruined the economy. So far his policy of confiscating white-owned farms has rendered more than 1.5 million black farm workers and their families destitute.

In an effort to alleviate the food situation the US offered large amounts of grain. However, Mugabe, with the support of Greenpeace, rejected the offer, falsely claiming that the food was dangerous because it had been genetically altered, even though it’s the same corn that Americans have been eating in their corn flakes and chips for years — and with no ill effects. What Mugabe and his Greenpeace allies deliberately ignored is that Malawi, Lesotho and Swaziland accepted the same US corn without any concerns or detrimental consequences. These countries are obviously more interested in averting famine than in playing politics with their citizens’ lives.

The only danger from American corn is to Mugabe. If large quantities of this corn were allowed to enter the country it would break Mugabe’s food monopoly and undermine his dictatorship, something that Greenpeace apparently wants to protect. Why? Could it be that it’s because Mugabe is a Marxist-Leninist? (I recollect quite well a Greenpeace representative’s letter in the Melbourne Age rationalising the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan).

Greenpeace supported Mugabe’s lies, with Remi Parmentier, the organisation’s political officer, making the patently absurd accusation that the US had “subjected millions of Africans and other citizens of developing countries to life-threatening danger.” It seems that Greenpeace won’t be satisfied until there are no Africans left.

Remi Parmentier is simply carrying out Greenpeace’s policy of lying in support of its ideology, regardless of how many people it kills.

Greenpeace is run by a callous pack of bastards who don’t give a damn about people. This is the same hypocritical crowd that tried to ban Golden Rice, which was developed to save millions of Third-World kids from death or blindness due to vitamin A deficiency. What a sweet bunch of guys.

It was Greenpeace thugs who tried to close down the only major DDT-production facility in the world, located in Cochin, India. Without this facility God knows how many more Third-World peasants would die from malaria, one million alone last year. But Third-World deaths are something that Greenpeace and its fellow nature-loving fanatics can’t seem to get enough of.

If any group deserves to be put on trial for crimes against humanity — it’s these eco-imperialists.

Some of them have "good intentions" but as republicman says, the road to... paved with LIBERAL intentions. And also I don't believe contributors understand how truly extreme these groups have become. (Not that the media is going to report on any of the nutty stuff.)

True story. Guy from the midwestern U.S. comes to CA to visit legendary environmental organization. Expects to find Daniel Boone types.

Finds their offices in San Francisco. They're wearing suits, dining on lobster, occupying multi-million dollars office suites.

Guy sees them for the greedy, hypocritical liars they are. Returns to midwest thoroughly disillusioned.

This is all about money. They champion any cause that will fill their coffers. And the more outrageous it is, the more profitable it is. That's because Americans are just that stupid.

You gotta hand it to the French on this one. At least they sank the Rainbow Warrior when they had the chance...
All hail (at least for this one noble deed) the French Secret Service

Greenpeace backs the dictator Mugabe

This should come as no surprise to anyone since it's clear and obvious that the socialists and communists have infilitrated the environmental movement...as it has every other "liberal" organization/institution/movement, from NOW to college professionals/government school teachers to the ACLU.
