It is like a cottage down a road, a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.
Freepers who post here, feel it too. It has been so dear how the Freepers kept making it a cottage - a home-type of place that had a huge living room for them to visit in and a dance floor, a library, etc.
saying that the Canteen is like home to them for the first time since they served.
a respite from our busy and sometimes troubling world. Make yourself at home.

The day at the Canteen that antiJen did
the Cival Air Patrol meant a lot to me.
My son has been with the CAP for awhile
now and you covered it beautifully.
Thank you both of you and the rest of
the Canteen group for the support you
give each day.

I got your letter my Dad forwarded to
me about the USO Canteen Freeper
Style. This morning I had a chance to
check it out and did so with great pleasure.
Over the years Dad has talked about his
meeting you in Nam and what you did.
To have the Canteen and the kind of
people there behind us, pulling for us
sure feels good. I see you have Monday
Mail Call that had me grinning because
mail means so much here too. The letters
the Canteeners write back come alive with
the music, pictures and words, it is really
something the work everyone there puts
into answering. I am really impressed with
everything about the Canteen and the
Canteeners.
I promise all of you we will not let any
of you down. We are as committed here
as all of you are there supporting us.
If God blesses each of you half as much
as you bless those of us that get to visit
the Canteen your lives will be enriched
and very happy.

I am not even going to ask how you
are going to accomplish a Rodeo at
the Canteen because I got to come to
the Beach Party and the USO Dance !
You all are without a doubt the wildest,
crazy, fun loving and dead on serious
bunch of Patriot’s I have even seen!
And God Love ya all I know I do!
You know what gets me the most ?
Sure I love the laughs and the jokes
they get passed on believe me. Thanks!
Those great graphics I can send home,
my mom is keeping a scrapbook of all
that I send her. She loves the graphics
too. So does my younger brother in
highschool. But what I notice more
then anything is how consistent you all
are. Everyday you show up and have
some fun and visit for me to join in , that
means the most to me. Because I know
you are there for me, I can feel it .
So see you at the Rodeo and thanks

I don’t think there is anything that
Canteeners or Freepers can do in a
small way.
I think I saw someone else do this, let
me give it a go here. Ha ha ha
What a cast of characters you have at
at the Canteen:
A mouse,a spookie, a wolf (SAM),
a cartoon character Magoo,a Gator girl
Sassy and a Kneezles ( what is a Kneezles)
LOL,a Sabertooth tiger,a wild guy that has
me laughing every time wearing a Burka
a man that served in the Navy and can’t
spell yacht,a cutie with Mojo, Jen that
makes the best margaritas on any side of
any border and has a hot tub I would love
to join her in, Kathy that could warm up
the coldest day in Alaska with her warmth,
Radu ,Linda lets make history you and I,
Flag Man and Beamer, Jinx that is not a
Jinx.LOL And then of course Victoria and
the surprises she brings to one and all in
music and joy and humor, Misty and the
fun she brings not to mention or leave out
the best 666 there is. ROTFL
Then the very special support from the Eh Girl
Coteblanche. To know a Canadian has such
Dedication to not only Canada but to her
Respect and regard for America as well is
Awesome.
Take all these and ask a Bunny to invite
them to a cottage as you call it down a
a path in life where the road leads to charm
whimsy and laughter. How many people
could do this, my guess all of you are a rare
find in any theatre.
My bet is I left many out of this list but it is
not intentional and together all of you are
the one of the best weapons America has
in more ways then one.
Thank you for making the sun shine in the
hearts of those of us serving now.

I am one of the lucky ones, I get to visit
the Canteen most mornings. So I have
seen the moving things you bring into
view each day. Your salutes to many
aspects of the military never ending and
and always with such a sincerity in
appreciaton that is contagious.
All the Canteeners and you seem to have
this unique way of sharing a part of each
of you that I amazes me.You give and give
and then tomorrow give again of yourselves.

I am a long time Freeper that admires
Jim Robinson for his dedication. Now
I have added one other and a group as
well to this. I add you Snow Bunny and
every Canteener for what you do everyday
rain or shine.
The Canteen is the only place I have seen
that touches on all things a serviceman misses.
You have it all and deserve to be awarded all
of you.This old Vet can tell the real thing and
believe me, Jim Robinson and the Canteen, Snow
Bunny and the Canteeners ARE the real thing.
I served in two tours Vietnam War and Desert
Storm Desert Shield then retired two years ago.
I prefer to be a direct as possible and not sugar
coat how I see things. A vet that has seen what I
have knows the difference in sincere and showy
acts of kindness that are not from the heart.
Nuff said !
Another group I want to thank are the Freepers
that meet for Rally’s to support our active duty
Military. You too make me proud to be a freeper.
So Bunny and Canteeners and our mighty founder
of Free Republic this will be my first post via an
Email to you all. With a heart filled with pride to
be an American and grateful to top it off with the
recognition of calling myself a Freeper I thank you
for meeting the challenge of what you do. For having
a dream and making it a reality. The smoothness in
running a site that draws us all to it each day called
Free Republic.com and the USO Canteen Freeper
Style that brings such tears of joy , sorrow and tears
from laughter because of each Canteener and you Bunny.
This veteran has found a home of healing and warmth
like I never have before.Healing where I didn’t even
know I needed it that showed up in the many threads.

is one of my favorite days to visit. Here are

FallGuy thanks for the laughs with your
Navy stories.Gator Navy you have a beautiful
family. And R.Scott thank you sir. I wrote
my Uncle and Dad after reading your freeper
Friday.
Canteeners thank you seems so little for what
you do but it is meant from a smiling sailor.

I am glad you’re done with school and can
be at the Canteen more like before. I missed
you when you had to study, but was pulling
for you and your tests.
It would mean a lot to me to have a dance
with you sometime. You can even pick the
music but let’s find a place that isn’t too
crowded like away from the Bad Boys glare.

I saw the announcement of the Rodeo at
the Canteen. I am ready ,willing and able
count me in on the bull riding. How hard
can that be after what I have been doing.

Souris I will protect you from every
(dare a say it ) mouse trap ever invented.
And from sly cats that might come your
way. Except the ones Radu has which is
probably the population of a small town.You
are a sweetheart Radu. And I am sure you
will not let your kitties get too close to the
Souris of my dreams.
Don’t mind my height Souris,just think of
curling up next to a lone Pine for shelter
whenever you like. ( image here of
6’4” pine but I think I stopped growing)

help getting on a horse at the Rodeo
just let me know. You must either be
married or have a ton of boyfriends.
So count me as a Kathy admirer if it

Here is a plan if you like Kathy.
We can get antiJen to fly us in one
of those very fast jets she knows about
Huh Jen ( will ya will ya, and I can always
say I flew with the most beautiful Air Force
Girl at the controls).
Then once we are flying high over the
landscape we can drop leaflets down to Tonkin
“find us if you can”.
Then have our lunch at 1000 feet maybe,
what do you think Kathy.
