Honey, They've Just Greened the Kids

Parents and teachers appear more apprehensive than ever about the curriculum in public schools, but they are told, "All is well - don't worry about it. You are the only one who feels there is a problem." Parents are made to feel totally stupid, and not wanting this to reflect on their child, they say no more. Teachers teach the curriculum they are given.

We've faced the distorted sex education based based on Kinsey's reports, only to find he was a known pedophile.

We have tried to make sense of "Goals 2000," "Outcome Based Education," and the "School to Work" programs, knowing there is a liberal agenda behind it that just keeps moving ahead.

Now it is, "Leave No Child Behind." This new federal curriculum, explained by Allen Quist of the Maple Rivers Education Coalition, is a form of "civics" and is all social engineering with a "One World Order" overview. In every textbook, you will find the same seven themes repeated.

Now, add environmental (or religious) teaching, and public school becomes a frightening place to send your children unless you have the facts. There is a narrow line between teaching environmental stewardship and teaching extreme environmentalism that will destroy the sovereignty of our God and Country.

There is a magazine called the Green Teacher that states the plan is to "rethink education in light of environmental and global problems." And we also have the Green Brick Road, with all kinds of "helpful" information for teachers. The Environmental Education Association of Illinois plays a major role in making certain these resources get into the classroom.

At a very vulnerable age, our children are getting half truths in full doses. We all agree we should take care of our environment. But when there is an agenda behind what the kids are being taught, then we had better take a long, hard look. When we do, we go right back to the same rehashed programs: "Agenda 21," and "Sustainable Development."

In the book Education for Sustainability: An Agenda for Action, put out by the President's Council on Sustainable Development (Clinton), some topics covered are, "Green Schools: Models and Approaches," "Sustainable Development Extension Network," "Workforce Development," "Lifelong Learning," and "Community Visioning and Assessment." All they need is to find someone to introduce this information into the curriculum and community and then to implement it. In all areas, there will be someone who is the "change agent." This person is one who believes so strongly in this "new thinking," he or she is willing to promote this change in the school and community.

Earth Day is celebrated in every school. Various teachings about Indians, such as Indian Shamans (medicine men, are found in much of the curriculum. But this is not really Indian history - it is Indian lore. As we begin to understand the "elements" that were worshipped, we find they are very similar to what the United Nations refers to as "Global Commons." What a unique way to get this information across to the kids.

Global commons are defined as "the atmosphere, outer space, the oceans, and the related environment and life-support systems that contribute to the support of human life." This broad definition of the global commons would give the U.N. authority to deal with environmental matters inside the borders of sovereign states, and on privately owned property, according to a report by Eco-logic.

In other words, we are moving toward "global ownership" of our property and resources and no longer private ownership of soil, water, air, etc. There is a move toward a global tax on these elements. We already have a tax on rain in some states.

The definition given as "global commons" make up Mother Earth or Gaia, the Earth-goddess 2000, B.C. The Indians worshipped Nature and the elements and the Great God. Nature is worshipped in numerous pagan religions. This is not just environmental stewardship but a religion. Prayer, The Ten Commandments, the name of Jesus are all forbidden in schools, but don't worry, they have a God to replace the God of creation, and she is "Mother Earth" called Gaia. Romans 1:25, says there will come a time when people will worship the creation and not the creator.

In "The Rise of Green Global Religion," Henry Lamb of Eco-logic quotes the well known author of The Ages of Gaia, James Lovelock at a forum in 1988, "On Earth, she (Gaia) is the source of life everlasting and is alive now; she gave birth to humankind and we are a part of her." Lovelock also told the Board of Directors of the Temple of Understanding at the 1988 Forum, "Global warming is the result of the human assault on earth," He likened it to a fever in humans, but expressed worry that humans are not allowing Gaia to recuperate. He said: "She may be unable to relax because we have been busy removing her skin and using it as farm land, especially the trees and forests of the humid tropics.... We are also adding a vast blanket of greenhouse gases to the already feverish patient."

It would be easy to discount this as words by some guy who had been smoking a little too much "loco weed," or he hugged a tree too long. But the problem is, when you learn what power "The Temple of Understanding" has on our world today, and the influence it has on the curriculum, it is time to investigate further what your children are really being taught.

I recently read where Illinois students were learning about the soil. They were told by a soil scientist "that it took as much as 8,000 to 9,000 years to form some of the soils in Illinois. However, one simple rain storm can wash away as much as 300 to 500 years worth of soil development."

Now I don't claim to be a soil scientist, nor a rocket scientist, but at that rate, we would just about be out of soil wouldn't we? In our area, we have drainage ditches, and when the sediment begins to fill the ditches, the ditches are cleaned out, and the soil is spread back on the fields. Think about this: Our farm has been farmed almost 150 years and has seen untold rains. Yet, the soil is still rich and fertile, and there are a lot more farms out there just like ours. Was sound science being taught - or fear based on a half-truth?

Global Warming is another scare the kids are taught. The agenda behind global warming has far more to do with the worldwide "redistribution of wealth" than science. Industry in America has been moved to third world countries where the emission standards do not have to be followed - all because of the non-scientific propaganda of "Global Warming." This has taken numerous jobs and has drastically hurt our economy. It has redistributed our wealth to foreign countries.

Did you catch the fact that emissions are o.k. in the global atmosphere of third world countries such as Mexico, India, China - just not the United States and European countries.

Facts, Not Fear, a book written to teach children about the environment, is a must have for every parent. The authors are Michael Sanera, Director of the Center for Environmental Education Research, and Jane Shaw, a Senior Associate of the Political Economy Research Center. The book is extremely well researched and will help eliminate the fear of "losing our planet" that is being taught to fulfill "their" agenda

I have maintained for quite some time that enironmentalism is a religion rather than science. If so, it should be treated as such and the prohibition of government establishment of religion should be observed. But what does the first amendment protection have to do with our present government?

The right has legitimate issues where environmentalist extremes conflict with property rights and common sense. We should stay in the common sense arena and not get weird on them by cluttering argument with paranoia about Gaia and the UN takeovers that sound like we are the ones that are nuts. They are cracked, and we are cracking!

Teaching extreme environmentalism could destroy the sovereignty of our Country. But to destroy the sovereignty of God? Was Joyce Morrison paying attention to what she was writing?? Or does she really believe that her God needs us to protect His sovereignty? Cheer up, Joyce! If your God is the same as my God, He will still be sovereign even if all of mankind bows down to worship the trees and the cute fluffy animals.

Not only that, but I believe that He knows more than a thing or two about reserving a remnant to Himself. His people will never bow the knee to another, not because of our vigilant watch over the socialists, but because of the power of His decree. He truly is sovereign, omnipotent and omniscient.

To Joyce Morrison and others who share her concerns: Take care for your children, guard jealously their upbringing, but put your faith and hope in God alone, not in "God and Country."
