Probably. I hope he has a nice long talk with them some day.
Preferably sometime after I hit Valhalla.

The original headline says nothing about pagans. Neither does the article. The Curve fire that has consumed more than 16,000 acres in the Angeles National Forest was started by candles used in a ritual involving animal sacrifice, U.S. Forest officials said late Wednesday.
[ . . . ]
Rumored reports of a Satanic cult or a group of "witches" that are regularly seen in the forest lighting candles and cutting off chicken heads are also being looked into, sources said Wednesday.
If it walks like a duck . . .

"Pagans" and "witches" would never sacrafice animals. (most are very into animal rights/nature stuff) Satanists and the vodoo crowd are another story....
It really makes me mad when the media lumps Witches/Pagans in with Satanists...not even close to being the same. Satan/Devil worship is NOT their bag. Yes, some Pagans/Witches are rampant animal/nature rights nuts but many are very nice, level-headed people who happen to have a different religous belief. FYI, if you want any more info on "Witches/Pagans" and their beliefs just for your info, type in "Wicca" in any search engine and take a look.

Dude, I don't doubt this report at all.
I took my girlfriend to visit a pal of hers during spring break '89 to Cabazon CA--just outside Palm Springs near Banning. It is the creepiest place on earth. It's just a big trailer-park really and during the day it was hot and dusty and not a thing in the streets was moving and most of the houses had tinfoil over the windows to keep the sun out.
The pal said "Yeah, everybody here works in Palm Springs--and it's a pretty nice place except for all the satanists..." She went on: "I think it's time for some spring ritual right now, maybe you'll see some." I'll take you to a place they do rituals.
She drove us out into the desert where there was like a big log 'totem' of a fanged, winged demon in the middle of a burned patch of ground.
Later that night, we saw a trail of torches going up the side of the mountains near there like a glowworm.
Kalifornia Kreepy I tell you....

Yeah, the only things tree-huggers kill are humans. They certainly wouldn't sacrifice animals.
It's probably not voudoun, because I don't think California has many immigrants from the Carribean, but Brujeria, which is a fairly native from of Mexican witchcraft.
To: chookter
Maybe it was the dinosaurs that attracted them to the place.

Ah, the beauty of diversity.

It really makes me mad when the media lumps Witches/Pagans in with Satanists Why? They're all heathens who worship false gods and are either ignorant of or in defiance to the one true God revealed in the Scriptures. Same goes for Muslims.

I've actually never seen that movie, it looked kind of dumb...
Have you ever been to Cabazon or Banning? I'm dying to find someone who can confirm my observations as well.
To: chookter
Yes, it was a dumb movie. (scary when you're 8 or so tho). Never been to Banning or surrounding parts. Will keep an ear open for anybody that might have though.
To: Jeremy_Reaban
I was thinking Brujeria, but I couldn't remember the name. On another note, it
could have been a group calling themselves
satanists. Every now and then, groups of wackos think it'd be great to take every cliche in the book to heart and try and raise Baal or something equally as stupid. From what I've read, these same idiots piss off "real" Satanists almost as much as Druids get PO'ed at neo-pagan tree huggers.
Or for that matter, most Christians with Jack Chick and Benny Hinn.

Why? They're all heathens who worship false gods and are either ignorant of or in defiance to the one true God revealed in the Scriptures. Same goes for Muslims Here we go agian. Let's just skip the next thousand posts and agree that neither of us has any real proof that our Gods exist. Your scriptures aren't any better proof than any other book.
To: Selmo
You have your opinion and I mine.
To: Dead Corpse
There are two kinds of pagans. One hugs trees and joins the SCA. The other kind rides Harleys, deals meth, and is currently at war with the Angels.
I don't think either of them are really big on chicken decapitation.
To: Britton J Wingfield
More than two kinds of Pagans. Agreed on the "chicken heads" thing.

Don't forget your goat leggings!!!!!

Well, mebbe. The problem with nekkid dancing around a campfire is that once you've used it there isn't any real handy place to keep your lighter...
