Hello Senator Daschle! What if this guy had been supplied by Saddam with his latest truck-nuke?

Schauble said the man was a strict Muslim "who hates Americans and Jews." So much for peace loving Muslims! That bastard little cult needs to get wiped off the face of the earth!

USAREUR headquarters was one of the places where the Baader-Meinhof gang set off a bomb that actually killed somebody, back when I was stationed in Germany, in 1970-72.
I think this is the first mention I've seen of a Turk belonging to al Qaeda. I wonder if this guy belongs to Milli Görüs.

Heidelberg is my birthplace (military family) and is a beautiful place. How sad that we have to deal with these miscreants... anywhere at all. Never give up and never forget.

Damn them anyways! Did they 'PROFILE'? Hmmmmmmm?? How outrageous and 'hateful'. Profiling is such an attack upon our diversity. /sarc

A likely tactic. They will try to use our or any foolish women or men (of course) to . . .they will use the weakest link to gain access to potential targets.
Glad the German police were on top of this one.
This is really a mess.

I wonder why a woman with dual American and German citizenship would be willing to take part in this kind of plot.

Waiting for some Libertarian to say that they shouldn't have been arrested until after they set off some of their bombs.

U.S. law enforcement officials in Washington said the woman had dual American and German citizenship. Treason?

Arrest of two on terror charges
By Adam Tanner BERLIN (Reuters) - Amid fears of September 11 anniversary attacks, German officials say they have arrested a Turkish national in possession of explosives and have announced the U.S. arrest of an Afghan-born German citizen.
The German prosecutor's office on Friday said U.S. authorities had arrested an Afghan-born German from the city of Hamburg, where three September 11 hijackers once lived, on suspicion of planning attacks.

I expect if the Fed's spy apparatus is working properly, we'll hear of several of these kinds of arrests over the next four or five days...

How is it that this "strict muslim" allows his fiancee to work?
To: Oldeconomybuyer
"German federal criminal authorities refused to comment, saying the case was being handled by state investigators."Mmm hmmm, and a few months from now the Turk and his girlfriend will be released, rather than risk angering a bunch of muslims.
What's with the Germans?
Why do they resist doing anything effective about terrorists?
Can it be because they see these terrorists as being primarily a threat to Jews?

Thanks for the find OEB.
This ping is for the rest of you. Fortunately this guy is a minority in Turkey!

His 23-year-old fiancee worked at a supermarket at a U.S. installation in HeidelbergWonder what the "fiancee"'s nationality is. Turkish too?
I once worked in a British installation in Germany. At that time, 30 years ago, they were concerned about terror attacks, mainly from the IRA.
While I was there they employed only English and Americans -- no Turkish 'Gastarbeiter,' who were plentiful in the area.

What an interesting coincidence -
this thread discussed a Turk living in Germany who wanted to name his baby "Osama bin Ladin."
