Extremist Muslim clerics will meet in London on September 11 to celebrate the anniversary of Al-Qaida's attacks on the United States and to launch an organisation for Islamic militants, said an organiser of the conference.
Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed of Al-Muhajiroun, a radical group that supports making Britain an Islamic state, said on Saturday the conference will argue that the terror attacks were justified because Muslims must defend themselves against armed aggression.
The event at Finsbury Park mosque in north London, "September 11, 2001: A Towering Day in History," will also mark the launch the Islamic Council of Britain. Mohammed said the council will aim to implement Sharia law in Britain and will not exclude Al-Qaida sympathizers from membership.
The conference will discuss the "positive outcomes" of September 11, which delegates perceived as a battle against an "evil superpower," he said.
"I did not praise September 11 after it happened but it becomes more clear now why they did it, although I personally regret the loss of life," he said.
Mohammed said he had secured a six-figure sum to fund the he Islamic council, which would build a dozen Islamic centres, launch a website and hold classes for Muslims.
"We will not stop Al-Qaida people from joining. To us they are devoted people who were trying to stop the invasion of a Muslim country," Mohammed said. Also due to attend the meeting on Wednesday are Yasser al-Sirri and Abu Hamza al-Masri, a cleric at the Finsbury Park mosque, which is widely regarded as a center of radical Islam in Britain.

Wondering what Tony Blair & the Queen think of this?

Hmmm. These clerics are described as "extreme," but has anyone found many islamic "mainstream" clerics denouncing them? How about just one islamic cleric or imam of any substantial congregation saying unequivocally that these assembled clerics in Great Britain are flat wrong, on the outer fringe, or just not espousing the true tenents of Mohammad? How about finding in these "mainstream" clerics just one fellow to say that Islam condemns the actions of Usama Bn'Laden and the Al Queda?
Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?

Excuse my ignorance but is that a spoof calendar? I remember the postings post 09/11 about the calendar from last year which had some graphic depictions of Islamakazi intentions.

This meeting will be teeming wth UK and US secret agents. The stupidest thing they could possibly do is meet together publicly.

If these so-called Muslim clerics wore brown shirts and swastika armbands instead of turbans and robes, they'd have been locked up or deported long ago. Britain is sowing the seeds of its own destruction by letting these murderous swine have free reign.

Exactly my opinion! Where is the outrage of the 'good' Muslims? Isn't their virtual silence on these supposed "fringe extremist" sects doing evil under the name of their religion a tacit approval?

Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed of Al-Muhajiroun, a radical group that supports making Britain an Islamic state. . . I thought it already was.

Maybe it's too believable? Now that is a surreal thought.

Well, some of them are scared to stick their necks out and become targets of hee-yaws and sociopaths - especially the yee-haws and sociopaths (and their followers) who are going to be attending this conference.
As for others, I get the sense they don't want to pre-empt God. God alone judges, and its not up to the rank and file to condemn others for their religious presumption. Leaders and leading Imams might have the clout to do it, but if you're Joe Average Muslim you just shut up and let God deal with it. They'll talk about it and condemn it privately, but getting them up on a soapbox is really hard - some of them really do think a lightning bolt is going to smite them.
And therein lies the problem: timid mediocrity is ruling the masses while the truly radical get away scott free.

Just what I was thinking. How much do you want to bet that MI's already all over the place?
But then, if these yahoos are out in public, you have to wonder what's going on behind the scenes.
And where...

Anyone doubt the wisdom of the New York State Supreme Court declaring back in 1892 that islam is illegal in America?

Extremist Muslim clerics will meet in London on September 11 to mark the anniversary of al-Qaida's attacks on the US
Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed says the conference will argue the terror attacks were justified because Muslims must defend themselves against armed aggression.
The event at Finsbury Park mosque in north London will also mark the launch of the Islamic Council of Britain.
But Mohammed denies the conference is about celebrating the atrocities of September 11.
"We will look at the way forward in order to prevent this happening again," he said.
Mohammed says the Islamic Council of Britain will aim to implement Sharia law in the UK and will not exclude al-Qaida sympathisers from membership.
Mohammed says the conference will discuss the "positive outcomes" of September 11, which delegates perceive as a battle against an "evil superpower".
He said: "I did not praise September 11 after it happened but it becomes more clear now why they did it, although I personally regret the loss of life."
Mohammed says he has secured a six-figure sum to fund the Islamic council, which will build a dozen Islamic centres, launch a website and hold classes for Muslims.
"We will not stop al-Qaida people from joining. To us they are devoted people who were trying to stop the invasion of a Muslim country," Mohammed said.
