MONTREAL - Former Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled a speech at Concordia University in Montreal after several hundred demonstrators managed to get into a university building. The demonstrators, who called Netanyahu anti-Palestinian and a terrorist, threw chairs and newspaper boxes at police, who were trying to evacuate the building where Netanyahu was supposed to speak.
Police responded with pepper spray or tear gas, and made at least one arrest. Netanyahu was not present. Police and his assistants said he would not give his speech in the circumstances. There was a long standoff between the pro-Palestinian demonstrators and the students who had come to hear Netanyahu speak. The demonstrators were pleased they had stopped him talking. Earlier, Netanyahu told a media conference that democratic countries should back the U.S. proposal to remove Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. Saddam is willing to wage war, and must be stopped before he gets nuclear weapons, he said. "To wait until this tyrant develops nuclear weapons would be a big mistake." Netanyahu was Israel's prime minister from 1996 to 1999 as leader of the Likud Party. Earlier this year, Likud members voted against the establishment of a Palestinian state. Netanyahu was the driving force behind the motion. He is scheduled to speak in Toronto Tuesday, where more protests are planned.

Is there something a wee bit incongruous here?
A couple of years ago, Charlton Heston of the NRA was invited to speak at Villanova University here in the Philadelphia suburbs. The various anti-gun groups called a meeting to discuss how to respond. The word got out to a lot of the pro-gun people in the area. We decided to show up at the meeting
We arrived in one's and two's, not greeting or showing any connection with each other as we arrived, and dispersed ourselves through the auditorium. As the meeting started, there were about 200 people in attendence. I figured about 20-30 were activists, plus a whole bunch of people sent by their professors for "extra credit". As the meeting proceeded to the question and answer session, one pro-gunner got up to speak, and the activists tried to shout him down. The two campus rent-a-cops moved forward to eject him.
AT that point, one guy stood up and protested the pro-gunner not being heard. He called out "All the pro-2nd Amendment people here, will you please stand up!". Imagine the panel's surprise and shock as about 40-50 people stood up, many of us pretty big guys. The rent-a-cops decided to go back to their donuts.
The Q&A session at that point only took questions from known anti-gun activists, but we put our point across anyway
At the Charlton Heston speech, there were a thousand of us there to hear him. A couple of hundred protesters were outside, but they just held their signs quietly. The point had been made: DON'T make us come out looking for who's disturbing Heston's speech.
The Left are cowards. They DON'T like it when people decide they're not going to take any s--t from them
Every liberal is a violent thug.
Now you're talking. Maybe the US could help the Israelis out with helicopters and tanks.
