I just received this via e-mail from a NPR-listening co-worker of mine...

"Since September 11, 2001, Americans have come together as never before in our generation. We have banded together to overcome tremendous adversity. We have weathered direct attacks on our own soil, wars overseas, corporate scandal, layoffs, unemployment, stock price plunges, droughts, fires, and a myriad of economic and physical disasters both great and small. But now, we must come together once again to overcome our greatest challenge yet.

Hundreds of Major League Baseball players in our very own nation are living at, just below, or in most cases far above the seven-figure salary level. And as if that weren't bad enough they could be deprived of their life-giving pay for several months, possibly longer, as a result of the upcoming strike situation. But you can help!

For only $20,835 a month, about $694.50 a day (that's less than the cost of a large screen projection TV) you can help a MLB player remain economically viable during his time of need. This contribution by no means solves the problem as it barely covers the annual minimum salary, but it's a start, and every little bit will help! Although $700 may not seem like a lot of money to you, to a baseball Player it could mean the difference between spending the strike golfing in Florida or on a Mediterranean cruise. For you, seven hundred dollars is nothing more than a month's rent, half a mortgage payment, two unemployment checks, or a month of medical insurance with COBRA, but to a baseball player, $700 will partially replace his daily salary. Your commitment of less than $700 a day will enable a player to buy that home entertainment center, trade in the year-old Lexus for a new Ferrari, or enjoy a weekend in Rio.

HOW WILL I KNOW I'M HELPING?

Each month, you will receive a complete financial report on the player you sponsor. Detailed information about his stocks, bonds, 401(k), real estate, and other investment holdings will be mailed to your home. Plus, upon signing up for this program, you will receive an unsigned photo of the player lounging during the strike on a beach somewhere in the Caribbean (for a signed photo, please include an additional $150). Put the photo on your refrigerator to remind you of other peoples' suffering.

HOW WILL HE KNOW I'M HELPING?

Your MLB player will be told that he has a SPECIAL FRIEND who just wants to help in a time of need. Although the player won't know your name, he will be able to make collect calls to your home via a special operator in case additional funds are needed for unforeseen expenses.

YES, I WANT TO HELP!

I would like to sponsor a striking MLB player. My preference is checked below:

[ ] Infielder
[ ] Outfielder
[ ] Starting Pitcher
[ ] Ace Pitcher
[ ] Entire team (Please call our 900 number to ask for the cost of a specific team - $10 per minute)
[ ] Alex Rodriguez (Higher cost: $60,000 per day)

Please charge the account listed below $694.50 per day for the player for the duration of the strike. Please send me a picture of the player I have sponsored, along with an Alex Rodriguez 2001 Income Statement and my very own Donald Fehr MLB Players Union pin to wear proudly on my hat (include $80 for hat).

Your Name: _______________________
Telephone Number: ____________________
Account Number: _____________________
Exp.Date:_______
[ ] MasterCard [ ] Visa [ ] American Express [ ] Discover
Signature: _______________________

Mail completed form to MLB Players Union or call 1-900-F-THE-FANS now to enroll by phone ($10 per minute)."

LOL...I realize this is blatant Class Warfare, but I found it to be hilarious nonetheless...MUD

......and I'll tell ya. There is a very short supply of McAuliffe pictures available on
the Internet. It makes me wonder if he invested a part of that $18 Million he made
on Global Crossing by buying them up from folks. So strange. You'd think there
would be an abundant supply since he's the top crook in the DIMocRAT party,
huh?......

"Slick will die a broke, lonely man in a Federal Penitentiary...the HildaBeast, well, she'll probably escape prison, but will get killed by a jealous lesbian lover nonetheless!!"

Hi Mud;

Would that it were so. I saw a news crawl on foxnews that said the wash post reported that the administration petitioned the courts to seal the info on the last minute pardons by the slime. I've heard nothing furthur, but, if true, he and the slimette have supernatural protection or at least it seems so since they constantly escape prosecution. For example, Chris Webber, the NBA player was just indicted for lying to a grand jury, but, the slimette did the same thing and escaped indictment.

As for ashcroft, I think his hands are tied by the Prez because bush said long ago relative to clinton and I quote "let's move on".

I believe bushs' way of looking at it is that we are dealing with a former president and that is sacrocsanct. If that is true, bush is wrong!

"Would that it were so."

It SHALL be so, my FRiend...the worm is turnin', ever so slowly.

"I saw a news crawl on foxnews that said the wash post reported that the administration petitioned the courts to seal the info on the last minute pardons by the slime. I've heard nothing furthur..."

That's a story worth following. Where the heck do they get off thinking they can pretend the pardons of Terrorists never happened?!

"...if true, he and the slimette have supernatural protection or at least it seems so since they constantly escape prosecution."

They continue to escape prosecution becuz no one has prosecuted them for their crimes...nuthin' supernatural about it, just spineless folks in opposition to this lowlife!!

"For example, Chris Webber, the NBA player was just indicted for lying to a grand jury, but, the slimette did the same thing and escaped indictment."

Excellent point, my FRiend, a High Profile Perjury case will raise questions as to why the Clintons are not being held accountable for their blatant Perjuries...the Clintons ain't outta the woods by a long shot!!

"As for ashcroft, I think his hands are tied by the Prez because bush said long ago relative to clinton and I quote "let's move on".

That's exactly the Right public stance to take politically, but I don't think Dubyuh will stand against the tide of public opinion when further evidence flows out about the multitude of Clinton crimes. It's up to us--the Sheeple--to create that "tide of public opinion" calling for Equal Justice For All!!

"I believe bushs' way of looking at it is that we are dealing with a former president and that is sacrocsanct. If that is true, bush is wrong!"

I agree wholeheartedly...we do not have Kings in America and our elected politicians are not above the Laws that impact the rest of Americans!!

"Hutchinson-Whampoa Purchases Global Crossing for Pennies on the Dollar!!

This has the makings of an excellent thread from back in August, and we need to ratchet up FReeper efforts to spread the word to folks who can do something about it.

From LarryLied: Bruce Raben ,Dean C. Kehler, Andrew R. Heyer, and Jay R. Bloom at the the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) provided Gary Winnick and Global Crossing crucial initial financing. All five knew each other from when they worked for Milliken at Drexel in the 1980s. Winnick pulled $735 million out of GX for himself. CIBC netted over $1.2 billion playing the stock all the way to the basement.
Guess who is one of the largest shareholders of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce? Li Ka-shing, the chairman of Hutchinson-Whampoa."

Wonder how much of this Byron York (National Review) knows about this?! He's got a block-buster story on Terry McAuliffe's scandals in the print version of the 16 September 2002 issue of National Review that I will post as soon as it comes out on the electronic version.

Apparently, a House committee is holding hearings on Global Crossing later this month and McAuliffe will be called to testify UNDER OATH.

October Surprise, indeed...MUD
