With all the stuff in the news and on the net, and all of it contradictory, Saddam must be going into information overload.

I can see him crouching in his bunker, not knowing whether he should s--- or go blind.

Iran and its NGO armies will learn alot from how we take Iraq. If they step into the fray in defense, against of Islam, with their brown water forces or air arm, we will be busy. China is rattling about Taiwan while we are scrubbing the Baath.

This is BS, a major piece of disinformation. Norhtern Iraq is already secured. Our friends the Turks have already taken care securing Northern Iraq Months ago.

this 250,000 number that is being banged around is insane, there is no need for that many troops, armour, armour and more armour, read my lips LOTS of armour!!

Push into the unsecured parts of Iraq, Air power first, pound them into the dust, armour comes in next, to take out anything big that might have survived and to take the brunt of any chemical or biological assault. All tanks have positive pressure systems and full filtration, and therefore are unaffected by such assaults. Infantry come in from behind to clean out any survivors and haul them off to POW camps.

If chemical or WMD's have been used, we don't worry about Baghdad, because it should have been turned into a redioactive wasteland. If chemical or WMD's have not been used, then we surround Baghdad, and let it sit for a few weeks without supplies, then we begin letting people out one at a time. Then we level the place until we find Saddam,
EVERY building comes down, guerilla warfare unable to begin because every building gets FLATTENED. Then, when they have unconditionally surrendered, we KILL Saddam, destroy ALL WMD's. Let the Turks come in and secure the place and start them out on the road to recovery.

The end, take us 2 weeks.

Let China rattle all she wants, India and Russia are not going to allow her to move one inch. If she tries to take Taiwan while we are busy in the gulf, 1 billion very pissed indians will handle the situation quite nicely, as well as a very angry russian military.

China is gonna sit this one out, they know better.

Interesting (if unsupported) thesis that I haven't heard anywhere. Can you expand this and supply some sources?

Not sure, Aric, why Russia or India are the least bit interested in Taiwan or it's defense? Please explain.

From the American media, I'd agree. But the British media is so brain-damaged, they'd print the truth even if someone begged them not to...

Actually, in Britain they have a law against printing state secrets, don't they?

China is the next imperialistic power, Russia knows this, India knows this. They are next door neighbors.

If China decides to make imperialistic moves while we are busy in the gulf, the 2 neighbors who have the most to lose if China gets started, will put a stop to it. That means India and Russia.

I almost guarantee that Bush already has this handled, the man knows what he is about. China is a danger, but not just to Taiwan, because once China gets away with one, what is to stop her from deciding that another billion citizens(india) might be nice, or some oil fields up north(siberia) might be nice as well. No, Russia and India will not put up with any moves by China while we are busy in the gulf.

They couldn't care less about Taiwan itself, it's the chinese themselves getting started that will get them involved, because they would be next, see my last post.

How about they do a picture for Iraq's defense and show us where their units and bases are?

No....no. Deliberate disinformation.

Take a look at headlines just before Desert Storm's ground phase

Forces in the same positions, a probable Marine landing...IOW, all "intentions" in print for all to see.

The true strategy? Marine landing was smokescreen, forces did the "hail Mary" and came in from BEHIND the Iraqi positions.

Same thing here...keep them confused, they'll roll over and play dead much easier when the bullets start coming from BEHIND, not in front of the Iraqi surrender brigades...

"Actually one bullet wouldn't do it...leadership would then fall to his son, who's by all reports Sadaam X 10 on the scale of crazy. And two bullet wouldn't do it either, because then you leave the entire Iraqi WMD infrastructure (not to mention the weapons themselves) intact for the next strongman in Iraq to inherit"

Right. The only way to take care of the Saddam-ite's dictatorial regime is to TALIBUNNY it.

Unfortunately my Marine brothers will get maimed and some killed fighting a war that one bullet would solve.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Just waxing Saddam is not going to solve the problem. We have to take out the Baath party in Iraq and the leadership of the Saddam's Republican Guard and install a pro-Western government. The only way we can do that is a full scale ground invasion. I'm not excited about the prospect of doing that because I think this could end up being more difficult than many "hawks" think it will be. If Saddam resorts to the use of Chem/Bio weapons things are going to get ugly and we might lose a few thousand troops. But, we have no alternative at this point, we simply can't let Saddam acquire nukes.
