You are an expert.

The league president, a Jew, is a Ph.D. at Boeing. He considers the Mosque a friend, and they him. His Temple and the Mosque (and other church's constituents) had a public refutation of terrorism last October. Rather than call each other names, they are all dedicated to peace and worshipping one God. However they worship.

You are an expert, so enjoy your opinions. In the meantime, a lot of kids and adults are having fun, getting along, learning respect and compassion, and growing up with christian compassion, whether you spell it with a capital C or lower case. Some of those kids may even inter-marry. (Hope that does not disgust you.)

You go your way.

kj

P.S. You introduced "equivalency". Please don't put words in my mouth.

Most of the face of Islam we see is from the Islamic countries

Except, of course, for those representing it at the Puyallup Fair in Washington state last night. And they spoke perfect English btw, and were not obviously immigrants. Just fellow al quaida/abu sayyef/chechen scum-brothers.

Prior to last night I may have at least partially agreed with you. But now I have firsthand evidence. My husband says they were lying like dogs the entire time. How many muslims have you been out to speak to personally?

In view of the fact these Muslims have so often committed atrocities againt the U.S.A., one must ask whether the U.S.A. has been trying to force "democracy" down their throats.

Theirs may be a fanatic religion that does not see our point of view in any way. Are we to obliterate them on this account? Or shall we let them live in their caves over there and leave them alone? We need to get our act together where it comes to crude oil dependence.

"I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean."

After the thread about the Three, Fun Loving Amigos last night, I guess that would be the case...

I MEAN, that your combative style is having the effect of making MORE people honestly want just wipe Islam off the planet.

If that was your INTENT, you've succeeded admirably. If that was NOT your intent, you're going about promoting understanding in entirely the wrong way.

Your words:
they are all dedicated to peace and worshipping one God. However they worship.

That's religious equivalency. Allah is NOT God.

Adios, have a good time here.

I"ve had an office full of visitors (Japan) here shaking their heads at these "displays". Time to start the barbecue.

I doubt it. I have been accused of fostering hatred and genocide for posting this one. Most people will avoid trying to present a viewpoint which is opposed to most of the Freeper community when you can expect a reaction such as this.

Please, the word we know as ALLAH is from ancient Arabic (poorly translated and poorly spelled in English) as SUPREME BEING (singular).

Respectfully,

A Reasoned and Articulate View of Islam

Ha ha ha. Apparently you don't know enough about the history and beliefs of Islam in order to have come up with such a title. What the hijackers of 9/11 did was far closer to core Islamic belief and practice of the past ~1400 years than anything promoted by Phelps is to Christianity.

"Kids and adults getting along just fine in peace.

Rankles you?"

Valerie is understandably upset about the very REAL al Qaeda terrorist cell operating in Oregon. Don't so hasty to make (_)_)UMPTIONS until you read this:

Al-Qaida trail tracked to NW

09/13/02LES ZAITZ

The year was 1997, and one of Osama bin Laden's trusted aides, Wadih El-Hage, had just returned to Kenya from a meeting with bin Laden, who was known as "the contractor." His instructions were to "militarize" the Kenyan network of al-Qaida operatives, the men who would carry out the suicide bombing of the America Embassy in downtown Nairobi.

El-Hage carried with him a seven-page report from al-Qaida's military commander that detailed the group's new ties to the Taliban leaders of Afghanistan. Days later, according to Kenyan phone records, he faxed the document to three men in the U.S. with the suggestion that it be shared with the "brothers in work."

One fax went to a Florida man later identified in court testimony as an al-Qaida member and pilot. A second copy was sent to California, to Ali Mohammed, an intimate of bin Laden's who was involved in planning the embassy attacks.

And the third went to Lake Oswego, to the fax machine of a civil engineer named Farid Adlouni.

Records show the two men had extensive contact. Over 16 months in 1996 and 1997, El-Hage called Adlouni in Oregon 72 times, sometimes just before or after meeting with bin Laden. Adlouni's home phone and fax numbers were listed in two personal phone directories and one notebook kept by El-Hage. The directories also contained coded entries for al-Qaida leaders.

Adlouni, 38, has not been charged, but he is one of at least three Portland-area men the FBI has focused on in its investigation of suspected terror links to Oregon and the Northwest. He runs an online Muslim business directory in Southwest Portland.

Prosecutors recently brought charges in Seattle and Detroit against several men accused of providing money, false identification and logistical support that included plans for a training camp in Bly.

The investigation in Oregon, law enforcement officials said, is aimed at building similar cases.

Federal prosecutors and investigators won't comment on the scope or direction of the inquiry, but interviews and an examination of more than 40,000 pages of court records and other documents show that the FBI investigation has been extensive, involving sophisticated electronic eavesdropping.

Among the other subjects of federal scrutiny is Sheik Mohamed Abdirahman Kariye, 40, the head of the Islamic Center of Portland, which is also called Masjed As-Saber. Records show that Kariye was a founding member of an Illinois charity that authorities have linked to al-Qaida. He was arrested this week at Portland International Airport and charged with Social Security fraud as he attempted to leave the United States with his children and brother.

Representatives of the Islamic Center rejected repeated interview requests and did not respond to written questions. On Thursday, the mosque issued a statement "in response to media inquiries and reports of unsubstantiated links to terrorism."

I'd feel better about it if I'd been reading a sea of essays like this emanating from Islamic scholars starting a year ago.

Yes, when you compare this genre to the rest of Islamic writings of the past ~1400 years, you can see it's clearly an aberration designed ad hoc for a political purpose.

Just like a couple of the sisters of the perps last night blaming America, Georgia and 'racism' by some 'redneck trash' for their brothers troubles.

Same exhortations by the perps.

Guess they don't understand the impressions they are creating - or they know perfectly well what they are doing.

God knows who He is.... and He isn't Allah.
Allah worship, ala flying airliners into occupied buildings while rponouncing Allah's greatness, is not how God is worshipped. There is no equivalency. Why does it make you feel so good and informed to think there is?
