US reserves 20 air corridors across Atlantic

LISBON, Sept 14 (AFP) - The United States has reserved a total of 20 air corridors across the Atlantic Ocean in the past 24 hours, some of them with access to Portugal's Lajes airbase on the Azores islands where an US air force unit is stationed, the Portuguese weekly Expresso reported Saturday.

Quoting air controllers in the Azores, Expresso said that the United States normally only has four corridors.

"There can only be one reason for this step, the transport of large quantities of light materiel that can only be transported by plane, as well as military personnel, to the Gulf region," said the weekly citing military experts.

The report came as a top US general said the commander of US forces in the Gulf was likely to move his headquarters to the region from Florida "to be ready for action" amid US efforts to build a common front at the United Nations to force Iraq to disarm on a short deadline or face possibly devastating consequences.

The US Central Command announced earlier this week that a deployable headquarters and 600 staff officers will move from its Tampa headquarters to an air base in Qatar for a one week "exercise" some time in November.

Portuguese Foreign Minister Antonio Martins da Cruz told Expresso that "officially the United States has not yet asked Portugal to use the base at Lajes".

The minister also said he did not know about any additional reservation by the United States of air corridors across the Atlantic.

Meanwhile, little Tommy Dasshole is trying to block a vote on Iraq.

Course, his official reason is that there is no need to "hurry". Plenty of time to "do it right", don't ya know.

Dasshole, him/itself, should be a national campaign issue. Let those Dems who support him show their true colors. If they dare.

For any Iraqi Operatives monitoring this site for intelligence:

Your days are numbered and soon you will be running for your life. Better for you to kill Saddam now, than to resist and see the authority of your government shattered; If you don't die from a missle strike or laser-guided bomb, your countrymen will hang you in the street once Freedom is restored.

Oh, and by the way, the 72 Virgins and Paradise?.....ITS A LIE.

Why does Tom Dasshole seek to protect this Iraqi nuclear weapons facility?

You betcha!

There may be some kind of psyops going on here. There are so many things leaked, released, and published every day. A lot of them contradict each other.

If he is taking all of this in he must be in a state of total confusion.

"Why does Tom Dasshole seek to protect this Iraqi nuclear weapons facility?"

Because Little Tommy "puff" Dasshole is presently holding the most powerful position in his miserable little life...

His tiny ego will resist at all cost - supporting the folks that will soon kick his tiny "concerned" ass out of the Senate leadership position...

Soon. Very soon.

Sure looks that way. I'll guess before the Nov. elections, maybe as soon as a week or two from now.

"Let those Dems who support him (Little Tommie Daschle) show their true colors. If they dare."

Make Wellstone vote on Iraq before the election. It could make the difference in Minnesota.

LOL, you noticed that too? This administration is fantastic!

Did you notice that this weekend the entire world has lined up behind the US with the exception of the US Senate? Little Tommy Daschle is going to have to run like mad if he want's to get onboard before the train leaves the station without him. LOL

This is huge news.

I've been following the news on the buildup for many months now, but this is the clearest indication yet that an RDO order has gone out.

This is big, don't be surprised if you hear a stream of deployment orders coming from the Pentagon in the coming days.

For 55 years, Lajes has been the Crossroads of the Atlantic bridging the gap of the wide open ocean expanse. In most contingencies that required U.S. aircraft and allied forces to cross the Atlantic, Lajes had a supporting role. From the B-17s and C-47s to B-1s and C-17s, Lajes was and will continue to be the fueling station that gets the aircraft and crews where they need to "fly, fight and win."

GO U.S. AIR FORCE--FLY, FIGHT AND WIN

Memo to Republican Guard: Give us Saddam's head now before Satan checks you in.

Jerry Nadler could just be going on vacation.
