A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 9/20/02
yahoo.com, whitehouse.gov

Posted on 09/20/2002 6:27:48 PM PDT by rintense

This was so good, I just had to use it (from the White House.gov website, from Ari's press briefing today)

The President began his day this morning with a phone call to Prime Minister Balkenende of the Netherlands. The two spoke for approximately 15 minutes. They discussed the situation in Iraq. The President thanked President Balkenende for the Netherlands' strong support as expressed in a recent speech that was given to the United Nations by Netherlands.

The President also this morning called President Putin, of Russia. The two spoke for approximately 30 minutes. They discussed the situation in Iraq. The President talked about the need to make certain that the United Nations pass resolutions that are firm, that accomplish the goals of disarmament and don't let Iraq avoid responsibility.

Following the meeting, the President met with a group of Republican governors who are in town visiting Washington. And then the President had a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister and Defense Minister in the Oval Office. During that meeting, the two discussed -- or the three discussed the ABM treaty, the situation in Georgia, as well as the situation in Iraq.

And then the President had a meeting with Senator Phil Gramm and Senator Zell Miller, a bipartisan group that is working to get passed homeland security in the Senate.

The President will later depart for Camp David, where he will spend the weekend.

Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Have you checked Amazon.com for a used laptop? They have some pre-owned things that have been refurbished for sale.
Don't know if they have laptops but they have PDA's and quite a few other electronics.

You know what he does for maximum effect? LOL! He totally stops talking right in mid-sentence and glares at them. I love it! Needless to say, it is seldom that a cell phone goes off these days.

Bikers on the Trail of Tears? Seems a bit incongruous! LOL!

But it must be quite a sight! When we were vacationing and on our way through SoDak a few years back, we stopped at Wall Drug, and there must have been several hundred bikers there! Makes you feel a bit uneasy.....all those black leather jackets, tattoos and men with greasy pony tails, revving up their motorcycle engines! :o)

Shroeder is a total jerk. If it weren't for him being against the war, his poll numbers would be in the toilet. Unfortunately, the German people don't want to help in the war, either, so there's no flak from them. Our Presient did not deserve such treatment from these people whose asses we saved - and GW never forgets who his friends are and who they are not. Loyalty counts. I'm 1/2 German and not feeling very good about it tonight.

They have been doing this for several years to bring attention to what the Indians went through way back around 1838. It is something to see but I do not think we are going up in that part of town tomorrow. The traffic should be awful.

Well, it's going to be a while before we buy anything else, used or not, because we just did our part to help the ailing economy by buying a NEW VAN!!!!!

Our old one was 9 years old, and had 186,000 miles on it, so we figured we'd better take advantage of the 0.00% financing, and got the only van in our price range that the dealer could find in a 5 state area!

It smells so new!! :o)

McLynnan, what's the proper procedure if there's a tornado in your area? Besides going to the basement. Should you open the windows to relieve air pressure, or should you close them. And does it make any difference if you go to the southwest corner of the basement?

Good for you. I would like a new car. I'm beginning to have problems getting in and out of the pick up. I understand you get shorter as you get older and that must be my problem because I don't think the pick up is getting any taller.

I have the feeling that the Germans are going to rue the day they said "We won't help" to this President.

btw, there are lots of Americans of German ancestry in this country (including my husband). You don't need to be ashamed of being German any more than I am of being Swedish........the people there now are left-wing pacifists, but they used to be Vikings! :o)

Thanks for the good wishes.
They closed down where I worked today and sent us all to the basement for a half hour in the afternoon. It is a lucky thing that a tornado usually skips around and doesn't hit everything, with some exceptions. I just got a little bit wet. The lady they had the funeral for this morning, they couldn't bury her today. They will have to do it tomorrow because of the weather. The funeral home was really close to where the tornado hit. I felt bad for her family in many ways, but all that bad weather didn't keep people away. It was standing room only.

We don't have basements in Texas, can you believe? You should go to an interior room or closet. The idea is to put as many walls as possible between you and the tornado. Many homes in our area have reinforced closets that act as shelters. Bathrooms are a good place to take shelter because the plumbing and extra framing reinforces the walls -- you should lay in the tub and pull a mattress or couch cushions over you. Because we are in a tornado prone area, we keep a small bag in our tornado closet with cash, flashlight, dog leash, first aid kit, radio, etc. and also keep our bike helmets in the closet. These days they tell you it doesn't help to open a window.

I know I should not be ashamed of being 1/2 German. Unfortunately, the other half of me is Irish and they haven't been much better. They think clinton is God. What on earth has happened to this planet?

"This woman should have been fired today."

This woman is named Herta, and today Herta said she never said that. Yeah, sure! So my guess is that the s*** hit the fan, and she was TOLD to say that.
