A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 9/20/02

This was so good, I just had to use it (from the White House.gov website, from Ari's press briefing today)

The President began his day this morning with a phone call to Prime Minister Balkenende of the Netherlands. The two spoke for approximately 15 minutes. They discussed the situation in Iraq. The President thanked President Balkenende for the Netherlands' strong support as expressed in a recent speech that was given to the United Nations by Netherlands.

The President also this morning called President Putin, of Russia. The two spoke for approximately 30 minutes. They discussed the situation in Iraq. The President talked about the need to make certain that the United Nations pass resolutions that are firm, that accomplish the goals of disarmament and don't let Iraq avoid responsibility.

Following the meeting, the President met with a group of Republican governors who are in town visiting Washington. And then the President had a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister and Defense Minister in the Oval Office. During that meeting, the two discussed -- or the three discussed the ABM treaty, the situation in Georgia, as well as the situation in Iraq.

And then the President had a meeting with Senator Phil Gramm and Senator Zell Miller, a bipartisan group that is working to get passed homeland security in the Senate.

The President will later depart for Camp David, where he will spend the weekend.

Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

There's also BMW and Mercedes, and I have a couple of clients who frequently get bids from German companies. When I tell them about the lack of outrage from the German people I imagine there are a few German firms who will be dropped from the bid lists.

One article quoted the President as being "furious"...he kind of looks that way in the picture with Condi. I don't blame him one bit! I'm glad he's at Camp David for a couple of days. Not that he ever really gets to rest.

Tornadoes are frightful things, because of their unpredictability!

I am terrified of them. In 1979 most of my husband's family lost their homes in a mammoth F-4 that practically destroyed the town of Wichita Falls, Texas. We drove in to check on them the day after the tornado hit and the damage was unbelievable. Half of the city had been reduced to shredded toothpicks. His brother and one sister lost their homes, but thankfully all of them were alive.

Excellent ideas from both of you. There's nothing like hitting them in the pocketbook.

OWF, my electricity goes out on a regular basis in storm season. My phone lines rarely do.
Last year, I bought a used lap-top for just a few hundred. Now, when the electricity goes off, I browse the Net to candlelight or flashlight (I'm asking for one of those bendable flashlights for Xmas this year. Who needs electricity? :->) The battery is good for several hours.

An F4 is a powerful tornado! The town of Xenia, Ohio was completely wiped out by a tornado......probably 20? years ago.....I think that might have been an F4 or even 5.......and then they got hit by another one a few years ago.

I don't imagine I'd sleep much at night if I lived there! Or in 'tornado alley' down your way!

Rush said the same thing about Germany today. He said they would still be a divided country if it weren't for America. And he said we should stop sending them ANY money for the next two years and see if they decide to show some graditude.

Very clever! Where did you find a good used laptop? What with buying them for the kids.....while sending them to college..... our personal budget is quite small!

Xenia! No OWF, that was more than 20 years ago, I know that because my bestest friend from college was from Xenia, and she always used to tell me that was where the tornado hit....and though I won't reveal my age......it was more than 20 yrs ago! ;)

Just logged on and learned of the tornado, MM. It must have been harrowing for you, your family (including pets), and neighbors. I'm so glad you're ok. So sorry for your neighbors.

President Bush and Laura NEED to go to Camp David this weekend if just to be with each other....although I'm sure that he will continue working even there while the self-important media blabbermouths continue their inane "solutions" without any idea of what they're talking about.

I'd say 'furious' was an appropriate reaction! Can you imagine if John Ashcroft had said something so preposterous about the leader of a country that was supposed to be an ally?!

This woman should have been fired today. I'm with pulling our troops and our money out of there.
