It is amazing to see what has become of her. Our family was just looking at scrapbook pictures of her and her sister at a birthday party we gave for our daughter 10 or 12 years ago. (IMHO...Her younger sister is prettier!)

Then why does she support Affirmative Action?

Something about a beauty pageant winner supporting affirmative action seems absurd doesn't it ?

Where women who are not beauty, talent, or IQ challenged need not apply ?

Where does it say she supports affirmative action?

"...she does not rail against affirmative action."

I suggest that you get a dictionary. Geeeesh!

Not "railing" against Affirmative Action is a PC way of stating that she supports Affirmative Action.

BTW - How do you think she got into Harvard Law School?

You saw how poorly she answered the history/current events questions.

I'd say it's a safe bet that she didn't get in on her looks, or her stance on affirmative action, as you suggest.

"...she does not rail against affirmative action." is a PC way of saying that she favors Affirmative Action.

Is it? The media would certainly like her to support afformative action, so I would think that if she had said anything even remotely favorable they would loudly trumpeted ("See, even conservative Miss Harold supports it.") Even if she'd said nothing on the subject, the media would say she "doesn't oppose" it.

To me, sayins she doesn't "rail against" it is probably a way of saying that even though she opposes Affirmative Action, she was polite enough to stop explaining why it's evil when interviewers wanted to change the subject.

So knee-jerk.

So I guess, that if its friendly to minorities, then you are agin' it huh?

Keep in mind that institutionalizing, within governament programs, on a permaenant basis, is what turns such modest sentiments, proposed as reasonable, into liberal hellish programs.

Just as no one can oppose "puppies-for-dying-blind-kids", the next thing you know, we have a governmental program of Bitch-Entitlement. The problem is in Process and Form, not in sentiment.

Miss Illinois...well, um...the current Miss America, that is... she's a conservative...BABE! (Did anyone see photo of her frocklicking in the waves a day after she won the crown?)

Forget Ann Coulter, I'll stick with Erica Harold. ;-)

(Just one thing confuses me though...didn't they just name some asian chick as "Miss America" like a mere four monthes ago?? These contests seem to occur more frequently than a yearly event...)

Relax, KC. The road to Hell is paved with "good intentions", and I couldn't care less at this point what the supposed driving force was behind "affirmative action". I find the whole concept repugnant and anathema to a society which views all men as created equal.

And neither I nor my ancestors ever owned a single f**king slave, I don't fall for nor engage in phony "guilt trips", so deal with it.

Affirmative Action unfairly discriminates against citizens of the United States, and is simply WRONG!

One day - years from now the people of America will ask why did the government permit such a wrong, just as we look back at segregation and slavery and say the same thing.

Erika is currently working as a campaign director for a gubernatorial candidate in the 2002 race in Illinois (below her Miss Kishwaukee picture.)

How conservative? In the 2002 primary with 2 100% pro-life, no exception, candidates she worked hard for the most conservative of the 2, Pat O'Malley, who was supported by all FReepers and good people in Illinois. O'Malley is the most conservative of all 167 people in the state legislature. She has both brains, and the ability to communicate. Some of us only score 1 out of w on that.
