Why Jesse Jackson?s Not Amused
FrontPageMagazine.com ^ | September 25, 2002 | Marni Soupcoff

O.K., so no one ever accused Jesse Jackson of having a sense of humor.

Granted, he has done some funny things. Like the time he remarked, "Capital punishment turns the state into a murderer. But imprisonment turns the state into a gay dungeon-master." A gay what?

Or what about the time after September 11 when he offered to serve as a one-man peace delegation to mediate with the Taliban, and the Bush administration had to try to maintain a straight face while explaining that such a move "would not be helpful." (This might have been the first and last issue of foreign policy that Colin Powell and Condy Rice have agreed upon.)

But Reverend Jackson is not really known for being a comedian. His stint hosting Saturday Night Live in 1984 was far less funny than the skits that show has created about him, such as the Eddie Murphy classic musical number "Hymietown" (a piece inspired by the Reverend referring to Jews as "Hymies" and New York as "Hymietown" in a 1984 conversation with a black reporter).

Still, even for a guy who's not notorious for looking on the lighter side of things, Jackson's recent condemnation of the hit comic movie Barbershop has revealed a surprising degree of humourlessness -- not to mention his own brand of racism..........

Great article. Great film (Barbershop). Great load of total B.S. from Jesse -- per usual!

Gee, I thought that SNL episode was one of the funniest ever, especially the scenes where Jackson keeps walking back to the sound studio to check on his "brothers". The scene would show a group of white guys sitting at the controls suddenly saying, "Oh, no, he's coming back here again!" Then they would switch with a group of black men, who would sit down at the controls just as Jackson walked in. Finally, after the last switch, one black man says to the white guys: "Should we pull the cars around front as usual?"

I'm sorry, but that was classic stuff.

The writer is correct. Eddie Murphy's a lot funnier. The only thing funny about Jesse Jackson is his ridiculous politics.

Jesse has made a career and a fortune out of being "offended." He gets "offended" by something you said or did and then threatens terrible things will happen to you and yours because of the pain of this offense unless, of course, you provide him with big bucks and his family and friends with good but easy employment.

No, the amazing part about this story is the total silence coming from the ultra-left wing, liberal extremist media, yep, the usual suspects. Just imagine one of the center of the road American patriots asking to change some dialog in a movie of one of the commies who fled west because it might be offensive to Nixon or Lincoln. The NYT and the aging socialists on the mainstream news would scream censorship.

When I heard his latest rantings, my first thought was that he was just angling for a cut of the box office. It was also my second, third (etc.) thought as well.

"unless, of course, you provide him with big bucks and his family and friends with good but easy employment."

maybe he's just waiting to get his cut, to have "points" or something.

Rod Dreher on Nationalreview.com comments on this today too.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Jesse has had his first "taste" of what black Americans are gonna do to his "legacy"...what offended Jesse was that 2 other black leaders had a "little" fun poked at them by BLACKS...what Jesse has running around the back of his pin head...is that he has provided so much FODDER for his future LEGACY once he is dead...and it will be about his corrupt morals.

The thing that pisses Jesse off the MOST...is the TRUTH and HARD cold facts being uttered by BLACKS!

The mayor of New York objects to a dung and vagina covered piece of 'art' and it is called unreasonable censorship. Jessie is the target of a few jokes and it is an insult and must be corrected. No double standard there, eh?

Hey, Jess -- how's that new daugther doing these days, Mr. Moral authority?

(from the article)What Jackson is really objecting to when he criticizes Barbershop, and what likely frightens him about the movie, is the characters' strong individualism. These are people with identities beyond their race, people who make up their own minds and have their own ideas about how the world should be.

Here's the key to his objection right here. Thanks for posting - good article.

I also remember Jesse reading Dr. Suess's "Green Eggs and Ham" on SNL and thought that was hysterical. However, there is not alot else that is funny about him. He's a menace.
