Dell Computers are American - official

After a long and tortuous process of deliberation, US Customs has decided that Dell's notebook computers are American.

Even though in one of the computers under examination, the chassis is from Taiwan, the hard disk from Thailand, the floppy disk drive and power supply are from China, the CD-ROM is from Japan, and the memory from either Korea, Japan or Singapore. The BIOS and CPU are sourced in the US.

This is how personal computers are assembled today; it gives us a peek into Dell Country a nation populated not by Dudes, but by robots and felons.

"Based on the facts presented, foreign chassis', hard disk drives, floppy disks, memory boards and other foreign components, which are further processed and assembled into notebook computers in the U.S., in the manner described above, are substantially
transformed as a result of the operations performed in the U.S," concludes the Customs Dept.

"Accordingly, the country of origin of the notebook computers is the U.S."

Net Stuckists take note. There are two parts missing from a Fritz-free computer, which may need to start building quite soon.

For this information, we're indebted to John Young's Cryptome site, which publishes the docket here here site. ®

I don't care where they come from; Dell is anti-gun and I'll never buy another one.

Let's see-Michael is an RNC contributor but is anti-gun (as stated in previous post)? I don't know much about him but Gates is the real liberal one from what I keep reading. I think I'd buy from Dell before I'd buy another MSFT piece of software if I can help it.

According to the BATF if it has more than 10 imported parts it isn't made in the USA. I think if this ruling is applied to one item it should be applied to all.

He is a solid contributor of our President even if they don't agree on every single issue. I just purchased a new Dell a couple of months ago.

"He's a big RNC contributor. Does it matter?"

Yes.

Sent last February:

=============================

Michael Dell
Chief Executive Officer
Dell Computer Corporation
One Dell Way
Round Rock, Texas 78682

Dear Mr. Dell:

I am writing to you about the recent issue between Dell and Jack Weigand of Weigand Combat Handguns. I have been a loyal Dell user for many years, and have recommended your firm to many colleagues and clients.

I am also a Life Member of the NRA and a shooter. And I support the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

I am writing to express my outrage over Dell’s treatment of Mr. Weigand—and by extension, all law-abiding gun owners. I have followed the story closely and I know the sequence of events. I know Dell has stated that the word, “Combat” in his firm’s name caused his order to be cancelled.

It is not Dell’s job to determine who is a criminal—or potential criminal—and who is “legitimate”. Mr. Weigand is—by all accounts—a law-abiding citizen, a person of integrity, and a businessman whose business serves those of us who cherish the right to keep and bear arms. Suppose I opened a business named “Jihad Child Care.” (I’m Jewish!) Would Dell deny me the ability to purchase one of your computers?

The bottom line is: Dell has lost me a customer—and I will no longer recommend your products to those who seek my assistance in choosing a PC. And I will do everything in my power to spread the story of your shameful treatment of Mr. Weigand to the many gun owners I know.

Sincerely,

Boris

"Boris, I don't like your politics."

I understand. Leftists frequently express this sentiment.

Bill Gates gave money to the failed attempt to register all gun owners in Washington state.

Dell's bad, but Gates is worse.

Dump Windows first.

Not to mention that Dells fail with amazing regularity and their on-line service smells of equine manure.
