60 Minutes would never report such a thing, except that Democrats are in trouble and need an excuse to vote for Bush's war resolution that wont piss off their liberal supporters.

This report gives them that excuse, and lets them look responsible, and concerned about the nations' security.

I agree, the Democrats need a face saving way to back away from the cliff they were running towards. Question is, will they use it?

Good point. If this is true, then they can also say, "We had to get our information from 60 minutes. Why didn't the President tell us this," thus attacking Bush and at the same time a little quid-pro-quo for CBS.
