They don't have much to love, and they needed the Torch as a non candidate as a minimum, since he was dragging down the ticket. If they can get Lautenberg on the ballot, that is just a delightful bonus. I think they can in fact, and with some legitimacy, IF they can get Torch to resign by next Monday.

I believe in a woman's right to choose... That one issue alone qualifies me in some of these people's mind as a feminist... Go figure!
To: marajade
Be sure to say that you only voted for him as Senator, in the general election, because you live in AZ. Otherwise, we'd have to "set your mind right"!
To: BizzeeMom
Shouldn't the Dems have to replace Toricelli with whoever garnered the second-most votes in the primary??????
Outstanding question!! Why don't Lott & Frist demand that the name on the ballot be the 2nd place finisher in the primary (if there was a challenger). Then thay can accuse Dasshole of denying the voters a choice!!

This last primary year being the exception, the Rep would typically only run one candidate for each state and/or federal office...
J D Hayworth is running unopposed in the general election for a house seat in AZ. Why aren't the Dems crying about having a choice in that district?

Torch will never resign for Lautenberg..

Even though I'm a die hard Republican I can tell you for a fact I would never accept the party leaders in AZ deciding for me who my senatorial candidate would be... I'm with you on this one. This is unethical and illegal, and I hope the Court strikes it down. If Torch runs and he loses, tough cookies. Meanwhile, may this new "tactic" backfire big time on the Dems!
This is a scandal of their own making...they can't blame this on the Republicans!

We all knew "shorty" would bring out this charge. Dasshole is pond scum.

Sorry, but you are in error.
"Napolitano is the youngest life-tenured Superior Court Judge in the history of the State of New Jersey. While on the bench from 1987 to 1995, Judge Napolitano tried over 150 jury trials, and sat in all parts of the Superior Court Criminal, Civil, Equity and Family.
For eleven years, Napolitano served as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall Law School, where he taught constitutional law and jurisprudence. He returned to private law practice in 1995, the same year he began his career in broadcasting."
The above is from his bio at Fox News

Lots of incumbents run unopposed. More Dem than Rep.

I stand corrected... He must have something going for him though... He's their senior legal atty at FNC... Greta seems to know her stuff and even she submits to him at FNC...

I'm afraid I would like that so much I might not be able to stop!

sorry ...checked it out, he was unopposed in the dim primary...

And we're back to "stealing" another election. I don't see how we can win this. We can easily win this matter, but the DU whining will be as bad as with the FloriDUh incident.

They didn't have much luck in 2000 getting peopel worked up about the SCOTUS. They will have virtually NONE this time around if that is their hope..if the AP story earlier tonight is right...because hardly nobody is even sympathetic with the Dem's attempt. At least in 2000 most people were sympathetic with Gore and that is why tehy had what little success they did in the public.

I stand corrected... He must have something going for him though... He's their senior legal atty at FNC. He is a good talking head. As a superior court judge, about the only consttutional issue he ever decided was if a search was legal. He would have no experience with the federal system whatsoever.
From watching him personally, I can tell you that he is often wrong in legal statements he makes on TV.

"Earlier in the day, the 78-year-old Lautenberg indicated he was ready to run." Who remembers in 1984 the RATS screeching about Reagan being 73 when he ran for President and that he would be 77 when he left office? They claimed anyone that age was too old to run for office.
RATS are such abject losers.
I have a thought. The RATS are underhanded scum. Torch is the god of the underworld here on Earth. They will not drop Torch without trying a few tricks, hell that is their stock in trade, and Torch has become the premier expert. He is not going to just quit. There is SOMETHING up their sleeves.
I think the RATS know there is no way Toricelli can be taken off the ballot. But they need to keep him low for the next 31 days, only poppin up to take a stateman's point of view to the people. 31 days is enough time for the underdeveloped brains of the Dem voter to forget that Torch is slime.
Then, reminicent of 2000, they will make an announcement on Friday November 1, 2002. They will get some wild bimbo to announce that she was fondled by Forester 20 years ago when he was in Las Vegas, drunk on his ass.
Toricelli's base will be outraged that ANY politician could DO such a terrible thing and Torch wins by a few votes.
A couple of days later, the bimbo will say it was a mistake, she THOUGHT it was him, but it was another guy.
Lautenberg is a supporter of abortion rights... Supporter? I am clearly remembering his heated, sometimes smartalick defense of partial birth abortion, standing shoulder to shoulder with bloody Boxer, deceiving people during the senate debates, championing the never an emergency procedure as a 'lst resort for some women' ... the actual last resort cases were three in ten years, and the doctor actually goofed and tried to cover incopetence with a partial birth abortion late in term in two of the cases, so Lautenberg believes tens of thousands of unborn cindividual human beings ought be murdered by a heinous serial killing methodology so that three iffy cases may be possible. This manb is a damn ghoul, a champion of serial killing as a means to empower democrats!
