We'll see. Channel 9 local TV reports the shooting in Fredericksburg and says officials are now trying to see if it may be connected. they just don't know right now, I guess.

Not true. All web servers log requests made by surfers. Normally included in the log files would be the IP address of the machine making the request ( loading web page).

Armed with the IP address you could then determine the ISP which "owns" the IP and potentially the user at the time of the request.

It may just be that he/they picked a mall right off the highway. The mall parking lot offers clear shots from a distance and the highway offers quick escape route. Maybe the fact that the two malls they chose had Michaels stores is a coincidence.

Yes, exactly, but I recall reading that the first people to respond to the situation were guys who just had .22's in their trucks. A common thing in Texas today, and even in Austin at that time.

Police on the lookout for mid-size car

Spotsylvania Captain Michael Timm confirms that a young lady whose age is not yet known has been shot in the Michael's Carft store parking lot just outside the mall. He says the lady was putting pachkages in the trunk of her Toyota hatchback when the bulet, which does not appear to be from a high powered rifle, hit her in the lower back.. Rescue workers have identified an exit wound, and police are now looking for the slug.  

 

She is concious and has been transported to Mary Washington. 

 

The big question in residents minds is whether or not this incident is related to yesterday's shooting of five peopel in Montgomery County Maryland. Forensic technicians on the scene, say this incident does NOT appear to be related to those shootings. 

 

A citizen who was nearby says he saw a light color, new, mid-sized car, possibly grey or silver, moving quicly towards the mall. Police say they are on the look out for this vehicle, and they are asking anyone who has any information to please contact them.

you've got to admit they seem to be awfully good at remaining invisible.

I'll certainly grant that, but they've also been helped quite a bit by inept police, as evidenced by their obfuscation of the evidence by focusing on weapons with no known link to the crimes instead of emphasising the vehicle, which is the only real clue the police have at the moment

It seems to me that the shooter is trying to pick out people who are doing daily, somewhat domestic tasks.

And relatively stationary, to up his odds.
