Another broad-daylight shooting just occurred, this time in Fredericksburg, VA, just off I-95. It's not even on the news yet.
About an hour's drive south of where the Montgomery County shootings happened, a woman was shot in the parking lot of a Michaels fabric store. My wife was in the store at the time. The victim had left the store and carried her purchases to her minivan. She unlocked the minivan and was loading her stuff into it when she was shot. No sign of the shooter.
No one else was injured.
The woman was taken away in an ambulance, condition unknown. Her license plate (which I'm not going to post) indicated that she had several children.

Her license plate ... indicated that she had several children. Not being familiar with the DMV in that area, what is on the plate that indicates this?

Thanks for the scoop! I can almost understand why the news about this is being handled so delicately...so as to not encourage copycat criminals.
If she's alive I think it is not the same shooter. Just my immediate gut reaction. Thanks again for the scoop.
To: SGCOS
what is on the plate that indicates this?Sorry, I should have specified that it was a vanity plate.

Does anybody know where James Carville is? I think he finally snapped.
To: SGCOS
Probably things like bumper stickers, such as "My kid is an honor student at [name of school]", etc.

Why is the news today calling these sniper style shootings?
The initial reports led me to believe they were drive bys with a handgun.
Has the type of weapon used been released?
Were all the victims shot with the same weapon?

They believe it is a .223 calibre rifle.
To: Ford Fairlane
All the first ones shot with .223 ammo.

Why is the news today calling these sniper style shootings? Can you fire a high-power .223 from a handgun?
To: Steve0113
Thank you so much for the first hand report. So glad your wife is okay. If she is up to it, perhaps she would consider calling Fox news to give them her report.

the parking lot of a Michaels fabric storeI'm beginning to think that security cameras on top of privately owned stores might not be a bad idea.

"Can you fire a high-power .223 from a handgun?"
You can I believe Thompson Contenders are available in .223.

If she is up to it...I think all she's up for is a stiff drink at the moment.
To: The Federal Farmer
No, it's not impossible to do this with a handgun. Any scoped .223 handgun is capable of doing this.
To: MudPuppy
How far in miles is this to the shootings from yesterday?
To: Steve0113
Your wife was in the store? Wow! Hold your wife a lot tonight.

The reports talked about a .223. I don't know if that's a spent .224 bullet or a .223 cartridge case they found. We still don't know if it's from a rifle or handgun.

Yes - if I was going to do this I would use a TC contender
A rifle is too conspicuous in an urban setting
The various .223 caliber cartriges are accurate to 400 yd from a contender.

Is the place crawling with LEO's
Did anyone hear the shot??

Why isn't this on the news yet? Are they trying to prevent panic? I think the public has a right to know this.If I lived in the area I would want to know. All of you that do live around there please take care.
To: SGCOS
Often people here have vanity plates that say, e.g., 5SMITHS, KIDZVN, 4BOYZ, etc.
To: Steve0113
Thanks for the heads up. Hope your wife isn't too shaken.
To: MudPuppy
Close to where I live, too.
Prayers.
To: William McKinley
.223 calibre first I heard of that
I would guess a radical muslim is running around trying to disrupt things
To: The Federal Farmer
They're very accurate shootings, all victims killed with one shot from quite a distance. Next to impossible to do that with a handgun. The Thompson Contender single-shot handgun can be barrelled in .223. Combined with a decent scope, it is accurate to several hundred yards. I saw a TV show or movie several years ago where a killer used the Thompson Contender at reasonably long ranges. I can't remember the name of the show or movie.

How far in miles is this to the shootings from yesterday? It's about 70 miles, almost all of it on open highway.
To: Steve0113
How many miles is this from yesterdays shootings?
