As far as them being targets - hopefully by the end of the school session, the trainees will be able to take them on. I got to go to Blackjack one day and watch the F-5 Aggressor pilots eat up the F-15 and F-16s - pretty neat.

You're right of course. I should have known from the tail graphics in your photo... I mistook those aircraft for these F-16N Miramar Aggressors... definitely a mistake on my part.
Yes, I agree it is weird, but the Navy *does* operate some 16s (or rather... DID... until they ran outta money in the mid 90s, according to the linked page).
