Be on the lookout for someone carrying a blanket covering a rifle, carrying a rifle case, etc.

Sounds llike pretty good advice. (/sarcasm)

What if this guy works the night shift and/or weekends...

Another reason to ceasefire on the weekends is the generally slow news cycle on Sat/Sun. If you, the shooter, want to get maximum exposure (fear, hysteria) on mass media, those two days are a wash.

TV 9 news

An employee of Hillandale Beer and Wine in Silver Spring, MD, was shot on Sept. 14. They interviewed Bennie and showed the entrance wound in his back. They believe the shot came from the trees at the edge of the shopping center.

There is no ballistics match yet. Sources say detectives are increasingly convinced the cases are linked.

NOPE on the laser...he hasn't done any firing at night...all DAY targets...seems to me he IS dependent on a scope...

If the liquor store shooting on September 14 is linked, that will change. The liquor store employee was shot at closing time.

Closing down I-95 for this sniper(s) would be exactly what these murdering b@stards want. DC area is already a traffic hell. Closing down I-95 won't make it any easier to catch the sniper. There are many roads you can take to avoid I-95. There are numerous other ways to track down this guy without shutting down highways.

Unfortunately in this area there is not nearly enough manpower to prevent another shooting if the sniper attacks again. If this keeps up the only way to stop the sniper attacks will be citizens taking action. If it continues, there will be formation armed citizen patrols of the DC suburbs whether the Feds like it or not.

You think that some teenager or college student is an expert sharp shooter, with a penchant for assault rifles?

This guy ain't a teenager.

Not necessarily. Following quote is from here...

One of the highlights of the National Matches, at least for younger competitors, was the three day CMP and USMC sponsored junior highpower rifle camp. 163 young shooters attended this year's camp with ages ranging from 12 to 20.

The camp is designed to instruct junior shooters of all skill levels. Some shooters are new to highpower while some of the teens who participate come with at least some experience. A few are already high masters or even national champions.

The 72-year-old man shot in DC was shot at night, 9:20 p.m. on October 3rd.

I don't think anyone on any thread so far has mentioned an assault weapon. The consensus seems to go between a single shot pistol to a rifle that's not an semi-auto such as a bolt action.
I don't think that any shot within 200 yards qualifies this killer as an expert.

I've been suggesting Abu Sayef since early on . . . they took a serious beating from our guys in the year since 911 and are wickedly violent . . . I agree that there might be something to the Philipino connection . . .

I believe the record will reflect that sharp and on-the-ball original poster of the quote in post #674 let the cat out of the bag on this one, for all of us i.e. whom the local law enforcement are probably looking specifically for, as reported. They or the feds must have racially profiled on this already; we had earlier reports of an internal document that claimed the suspected perp was "Latino or Middle Eastern" (interesting they would write it in that order considering whom our country is currently at war with). etc.

Perhaps some freeper close to a police scanner will corroborate this in the not too distant future. If so, we will have to wonder why these specifics were not released to the public to help in the search.

Seriously though. Think about it. A person looks at your reading material and makes their determination on who you ARE from them!

To a great extent, that's right. I have the problem that I love to read, about anything and everything, so I've got some pretty oddball books in my (extensive) library...

YUP you are correct he was walking down a street would be a lit street too...still no need for a laser, scope would work in that scenario.

There are many Philipinos in the Baltimore/Washington areas, but most of them are Catholics. Of course that wouldn't rule out Muslim converts from the Phillipines.

Yes, and those shootings in front of the CIA building years ago were mentioned in Steven Emerson's book American Jihad as an act of terrorism.

Well then, I highly recommend that you complete your own amateur geographic profiling. This means, get a map, use push-pins on all the areas where the victims have been found, and then come to an assessment from there as to whether or not the killer was coming from the Northern Virginia area, via I-95. Afterall, conclusions that one may make from this albeit amateur assessment will probably be quite similar to what Predator and other Geographic profiling computer programs have been finding.

But then again, the FBI claims that they don't want the public to know about this, LOL.

I went to a High Power Rifle Class about five years ago. It was great. It didn't really help me with my score but the people running it were fantastic. It was a little too cold for us to spend on the range itself. We had a bad front move in that stopped us from shooting most of the time.
The club I go to has a group of kids that are around 12 years old. Their grandfather brings them to the range.
