The bad thing about it is that our government doesn't have avery good record when it comes to honesty and veracity. If a spokespersosn for the government were to deny any involvement, could we really believe it? I would want to believe it, but there would always be a kernal of doubt in the back of my mind.

A caller also pointed out that among the terrorists recently arrested in Portland, was one who was caught shooting in a gravel pit shortly after 9/11/2001 due to a noise complaint. He was with others, all dressed in ME garb.

None of the articles I saw on FR mentioned that. I posted one over here.

On the evening of Sept. 29, 2001, a citizen called the Skamania County Sheriff's Department to report that gun shots were heard at a gravel pit on private property.

Skamania County Deputy Sheriff Mark Mercer discovered Battle, Ford, Ahmed Bilal, Al Saoub and several other men of Middle Eastern descent at the gravel pit target shooting.

They were using a 12-gauge Remington 870 shotgun; a 30:06 rifle with scope; a Chinese SKS 7.62 assault rifle; a Kel-Tec 9mm, semiautomatic pistol and a Makarov 9mm semiautomatic pistol, according to the indictment.

Bryan said the group was discovered shooting at the gravel pit wearing long, flowing white robes that are often worn in Middle Eastern countries because of the heat.

"It was two weeks after 9/11. You don't see men dressed in that sort of attire with those weapons around here. It just stood out," Bryan said.

When asked why they weren't charged at the gravel pit, Bryan said, "Technically, they were trespassing, certainly, that's not the crime of the century."

That airfield is right by the school I heard on a another thread.

I looked up the addresses. Here's a map from Yahoo. 1 = Freeway Airport, 2 = Benjamin Tasker Middle School. Maybe there's somebody here who knows the area who can confirm this? (Maybe aristeides?)

Thanks for the maps. The school shooting is also right by Freeway Airport, where 9/11 hijacker Hani Hanjour tried to rent a plane (so we know that the area has been frequented by al-Qaeda). See post #29 above.

My thought is - since we are in a war, what would it hurt to treat attacks like these as if they were intentional terror (US federal support) attacks? Seems like a better default proposition when our capitol starts looking more like the Gaza than hometown USA.

The feds took over the case this morning. Is that fast enough?

Great stuff. Only comment I would have is that it would be even better with a 300 yard circle centered on the location of the victim. The effect would be the same, but you don't have to have overlapping circles on all possible firing locations.

I used to live in the Laurel area and have many friends there. That's the word they're getting ...white guy! Even though there are huge amounts of Arab types walking around everywhere with rather harsh attitudes toward Bush, NBC and CNN have put the word out that we're to overlook the obvious and look for a white guy. Some African-American sounding guy called into Mike Reagan's show yesterday and suggested all white guys be rounded up and jailed until we get the sniper.
