The dems want to give them the right to stay, and the pubbies have decided that the illegal vote is what they need to stay in power.

While the White House keeps us preoccupied with the threat of Saddam, closing the borders and sending home illegals is not even an issue. I'm really uncomfortable about this issue not being part of the dialogue for the upcoming elections.

The priorities for Homeland Security are out of order. First, our government needs to stop the influx of people and acclimate and prepare for productive contributions those who can't legally be sent home. What good is it to overthrow any dictator if all the loons in the world can just walk across the border? This country has enough homegrown lunatics to worry about.

Those "necessary" temporary workers? Let employers try a little harder to find US citizens to do the work. Of course, it might mean more money going to workers and less going to CEOs...that works.

Worth repeating, loudly.

If they wanted to be here legally, why didn't they apply to come here legally in the first place? Too much trouble I guess. These are the kind of people who want things handed to them and partly why their own country is a mess. They won't ask the Mexican elites for things they're demanding from Americans.

Once they're legal they'd be in the same spot US citizens are ---they'd qualify for many welfare programs and their employers would be required to pay them minimum wage but would instead replace them with new illegals.

Please refrain from posting again....you are making ENTIRELY too much sense.....in all seriousness, I agree 100%.

p.s. I'll let you in on a little secret. As long as there are 15,000 illegal trespassers crossing our borders a day, there really is no "homeland security."

I've said it before and I'll say it again - this is an issue that we can't wait for the Feds to handle. It should be handled at the state level by the state governers, using the state police. Also at the local level by the town mayors using city police. And it requires the mayors and governors to ignore the federal injunctions and contempt citations that will follow.

Those very actions would gather the necessary media "outrage" to focus the publics attention on this issue.

Fat chance.

Considering that George "RINO" Bush wants to give them amnesty also, I think their chances are good. It's just a matter of time before Congress forgets about 9/11, and approves George's promise to Fox.
