Come on,this is Bali.

Oh, right... No one in Bali has cameras, and there are no TV stations, despite the fact it has a population of over three million. I forgot... *cough*

The explosian is center of picture, the smoke is from the explosian, not the fire.IMHO,whoever took this pic knew the bomb was fixin to go off and recorded it from a safe distance.

Utter nonsense.

The smoke in the photo has had time to rise several hundred feet. That doesn't happen instantly. At least several seconds have elapsed from the initial explosion, my estimate would be ten seconds or so.

That's plenty of time for anyone in the area with a camera to look over when they noticed the flash, wonder "whoa, what the hell is that", and think to snap a photo.

Consider the distance the photo was taken from, how many people would be within that radius (thousands at the very least, more likely tens of thousands), and how many of them would likely have a camera handy (in a tourist-friendly, Asian city, at that).

It's ludicrous to insist that someone "had" to have been "ready" for the explosion in order for that photo to be taken.

Likewise, consider that there were several photos, and one lucky excellent *video*, of the *first* jet hitting the WTC on 9/11. We live in an age of ubiquitous cameras and videocams. It would be amazing if the first few seconds of the explosion *hadn't* been captured serendipitously at least once.

Have you ever witnessed a fireball from an explosian,I have.the fire ball in the pic is not from some propane tank.there is no other smoke clouds around.BTW,a fire ball from an explosian does happen instantly. So,is it your take that this was some accident?

You are correct that the photo shows the fireball of the second explosion.

Here is a larger version of the photo.

I forgot to mention, my brother lives in Singapore. He tells me the Indonesian govt. has refused to acknowledge that their is a problem with terrorists. I would expect them to change thier tune after what has happened in Bali.

Hate to bust your bubble but there is little chance of the Indonesian government doing anything after this. Many of the Indonesian government actually support the Muslim fanatics. Malaysia, Singapore and The USA have been asking for several weeks that Indonesia arrest and extradite one of the leaders of the terrorists who is in Indonesia now.

Word on the street here in Malaysia and Indonesia this morning is that the bomb attack was actually carried out by the CIA and to back it up they claim that the fact that little to no Americans were there.

I never said it was from "some propane tank". Where on earth are you getting that from?

there is no other smoke clouds around.

Right, just the one from the explosion and fire.

BTW,a fire ball from an explosian does happen instantly.

The rising smoke cloud doesn't...

So,is it your take that this was some accident?

What on *earth* are you talking about?

No, my "take" is that someone snapped that photo after they saw the flash and grabbed their camera. Your assertion that someone had to have been "waiting" for the explosion in order for that photo to be possible is incorrect and irresponsible.

Instead of "word" on the street, substitute "lie." The Muslims have the blood of innocents on their hands, and they know it. The Muslims here in Europe think nothing about telling lies. For them, it is second nature. The vast majority of them are barbarians with no civilised code of honor. Sorry that is not a PC thing to say, but it's the truth.

My Dad fought with the Aussies during WWII in the Pacific. He admired their courage and fortitude. The Aussies will go after these Muslim cowards and prevail.

<< I see Singapore as an island of sanity in the sea of radicals, and it's only because of the iron fisted policies of [Harry] Lee Kwan Yew .... >>

Singapore is safe because it is 15 miles by 25 and has a ruthlessly-authoritarian virtual dictatorship which permits its western-oriented mainly ethnic-Chinese population to make as much money as it can, while constantly reminding it of its geographical location among an ocean of malay and indonesian islamists.

Harry Lee's "iron-fisted policies" are more oriented toward ensuring the safety and security [Including that he and his cronies have body guards comprised of gangs of savage foreign mercenaries -- Ghurkas] and continued enrichment of the Harry Lee dynasty and that nepotism-entrenched family's moronic Peoples' Action Party cronies and other trafficers and launderers than they are to the security of Singaporeans at large.

Unless you are [Make that were, he got rid of them all -- there are none left!] a member of the non-existent "political opposition" or a wanna-be member; "security" happens -- but is just a flow-on -- almost an unintended consequence.

Islam can only be defeated through education and enlightenment, and not by using the power of government.

Well, what should we do during the next 100 or more years that that would take?

Perhaps education and enlightenment can be done along the way, but it certainly will not work alone. It's going to take force, and a lot of it, to keep non-moslems safe until that day (which will never come anyway because it goes against their desire and mission to conquer us).

I agree. That's why I also said we should go after whose who commit acts of terror, or commit conspiracy to commit acts of terror.

My position mirrors the President's, and I hear a lot of people calling for internment and deportation, making the Koran illegal, and disallowing Islam in the States.

That seems out of character with the American way to me.

This is devasting. The fact that this much damage was done by a home made "car" bomb shows how vulnerable we really are. Cars haven't been undergoing scrutiny in urban areas. What's to stop this from happening at any mall or any busy street corner in any city in America? What happened in Bali should be a real wake-up call to any one who thinks things are "back to normal" after 9/11.

Changing the subj a bit (from a bunch of GREAT comments from people like "home educate" and others).............I have WONDERED about just this: with many cameras focused on the NYC skyline, to my knowledge, we haven't seen more actual footage of particularly the FIRST plane.......WHen it first happened, I thought, like you, that there would be numerous angles and footage of the attack.

I watched the Daniel Pearl decapitation video again yesterday. Don't ask why, I just did.

This photo, and that video, makes it hard for me to disagree with you.

Including that he and his cronies have body guards comprised of gangs of savage foreign mercenaries -- Ghurkas

Come, come... What's wrong with the Ghurkas? They are some of the most admirable soldiers on Earth. They love to wet their kukris with the blood of Muslims, which is fine by me.

Ghurkas are Nepalese -- not Singaporeans -- and are necessary to the protection of Singapore's Harry Lee Gang only because that gang is essentially a self-appointed dictatorship that, in Singapore, needs protection only from its involuntary subjects.

Which would otherwise eject it.

And the horses it rode in on.

My point is that the impression that Singapore is "an island of sanity in the sea of radicals" that comprises Asia's squalid swamp is delusional and/or is the product of thirty years of the output of the perfected Goebellian propaganda machine owned operated and controlled by Singapore's burden: the insanely egomaniacal and Machiavellian, Lee -- and by his Peter Principled offspring, lackies and lickspittles.

A popularly elected gummint does not require the assistance of foreign mercenaries -- and/or murderers for hire -- to protect it from its electorate.
