I wondered if the reporters feel like they are targets. After this latest shooting, I'm inclined to believe this is more than one sniper.

I have no doubt reporters will become a target, especially if these are terrorists......as I said, the jury's still out with me but it may not take much longer to make me fall onto the "terrorist" side of the fence, rather than wondering if it's a psycho.....which I'm really beginning to doubt.

It depends on the bullet.

Agreed. Corbon makes a nice load as well. I think it was a fmj in the incident I mentioned. I read an article once (don't remember where) that stated that there was no observavble difference in the wounds of different bullets when they were round noses. Just a neat little hole all they way through that couldn't be identified by caliber if the bullet wasn't found.

I come here to read about breaking news because I know it's a good place to get summaries from all the different sources.

As do I and many of us.

I doubt I'm the only one that has figured that out.

I've had a concern for awhile that the assassin could be lurking as well. What better place to read the theories of intelligent people (mostly) who know about guns? And maybe pick up an idea or two?

I just find this a little strange.

This perp follows news and selects locations carefully. I have feared all along that he/she may be lurking here. I personally think we should be very careful what we say.

Looking at these people, do you think he/she/they may attend the same church? The murdered people are all CHRISTIAN in the true sense of the word.

It would be a huge mistake for public officials to call it Islamic terrorism and be wrong.

It would be even more of a mistake for the police to assume it was islamics and concentrate their investigations there only to turn out wrong. If we don't have any evidence to point to islamics (and no one knows exactly what the police have, maybe no more than us) concentrating too much investigative resources there may well overlook the real killer elsewhere. At this point we can't assume anything. Personally, I'm leaning away from the islamic terrorist thing. Probably some nutcase. Maybe an ex-cop, or a disgruntled ex-stockbroker. Everyone's suspect now.

...or they all attend A church. The young man shot was going to a Bible Study. Maybe the person visits different churches each weekend, picks out a person and follows them around.

Those who believe man is basically good are Those who believe man is basically good are usualy ...

Liberals. That's why they concentrate on environmental factors to try to correct the evils of society. They believe man is good and his circumstances (guns, poverty, etc.) make him bad. There is no solution there.

Response below:

Alternating Black <-> White shooting pattern....
Last 7 shootings!

Next Black ?
12 White Female (per news conference)
11 Black Male
10 White Male
09 Black Boy
08 White Woman (I think this was a woman at Michaels)
07 Black Man
06 White Woman

1-5 Shootings was Meant to generate Media and Police attention.

I'm thinking the Sniper is shooting people equally who
are mostly associated to Historical America...White and Black race.

I'm thinking this could be Terrorist related.

I used to discredit the theory that the sniper drove a van. I didn't think this true because it would be very hard for a sniper to line up a good shot in this kingd of vehicle. Now that they mention a broken tail light it may add some clues as to how he is able to make this sniper shot. Perhaps he has made a hole in the van (taillight area) for him to be able to lay down in the back floor to take a sniper shot.

We have been given enough information here at FR to put together what's going on, and the rest is all over the net, if you'll look.

As soon as the Sheriff's office for Falls Church meets the demands of the team, the killings will stop, I think..

A sheriff's office in VA killed a 23-yo guy last month over a joint's worth of marijuana.

(I am not a culprit in anything, anywhere. I'm changing my handle right away.)

Before everyone believes that I said that it definitely is a bolt-action, let me replay the entire quote:

As for the weapon itself, I'll go against the law-enforcement grain and guess that it's a scoped bolt-action rifle.

A bolt-action would also make it far easier to enforce the one-shot discipline that Route66 outlined. The thing that would mitigate against a bolt-action is if there were more than just the one casing that was found with the tarot card (like you said, if the shooter were disciplined enough to not take a second shot, he'd also be disciplined enough to not eject the casing).

Hey, I'm consistent that it's been AQ all along IMO. I'm the one who always tells folks not to jump to conclusions. You stole my line.

I'm not saying it's al Qaeda; just that people should be open to the possibility, since it just *could*, given a number of coincidental factors. So it just shouldn't freak people out (any more than they're ALREADY freaked) if it's a guy with an al Qaeda manual (because if this IS a terrorist op, it's a low-budget, low-manpower one -- other al Qaeda attacks have consistently been "bigger"). Suspicious, of course, but I keep holding on to Heinlein's razor -- probabilities ALWAYS stack towards it being some whackjob (daddy didn't love me so I hunt people and hang their pelvises on my door). Mostly saying, don't jump to the conclusion it IS, and don't jump to the conclusion it ISN'T, until we get some hard evidence -- and it looks like the cops may finally have some to work with (*maybe*, it's all still very odd).

[). This sort of existance would not be desirable to me, just facing reality.]

You do know I was agreeing and realized (or thought I did) that the last part was venting. I totally know how you feel.

As for whether or not we would put up with it, I just don't know. I see us accepting a lot of things that we should not. It worries me that before we wake up to the realities, it might be too late.

The problem is, at least to me, we are beset by so many dangers here. As far as defense, the ME threat is the worst, but we just have no idea how many are here, how many are coming in each day, how many weapons they have (and what kind).

The police seem to be doing all they can in this situation, but just think if cells in each state started this, we could be paralyzed. Of course, just speculating, the killer may not even be ME. But what it should teach all of us, including and especially our leaders, is just what a few people could do to this country. When will we wake up.

A friend of my daugher teaches the gun classes for Texas - I think it is time to sign up.

...there is more than one vehicle involved, more than one person, and no Muslim victims (although it certainly seems they are diverse in every other way, even to the point of deliberate diversity).

Well, you would have thought that after 11 or 12 shootings, the killers would somehow have managed to hit someone of the moslem persuasion, considering the fact that as some have pointed out, there's a large ME population in that area now...
