"Excellent. Israel should do whatever her leaders deem necessary for her security. No holds barred."

I hate to say this, but I must. We don't have to put any nukes into the middle east now, because the Israelis have a deterrent weapon to aid in preventing Saddam from using his WMDs!

"Bush drops his first 'bomb' on that Parliament of Thugs in New York. The United Nations is going to have a collective cow over this sucker. Kudos, Mr. President."

I know I'm just speculating, but just suppose that Bush is sending a signal to the U.N. that since the Security Council still isn't backing the U.S.'s efforts, the U.S. might possibly exercise our veto of any upcoming sanctions against Israel!

I think Bush knows how to play this hardball, diplomatic game much better than anyone has given him credence.

I agree.

I wonder what other "hints" the UN is getting...

Of course, they have a choice of following or getting out of our way - they already passed up the first of Lee Iacocca's three options.

I saw this mini-press conference this afternoon. I would like to add that Sharon looked positively JOLLY, which I have not seen as long as I have been watching him. President Bush looked confident and tweaked the reporters a bit. I would say that Sharon was quite satisfied with whatever he learned in his meeting with the President.

And where are those people who kept telling us that Bush was selling out Israel, hmmmm?

Yet, we tell the Iraqis that they can not react violently,

No, we told them they would be wise not to fight.

... and with all the weapons at their disposal, when we attack with the intent of destroying their country as we destroyed Serbia.

We won't attack with the intent of destroying their country. It is clearly established that we do NOT want to do that. We want to destroy WMD if/when found, and we want Saddam out. Where do you get this "stuff"?

In fact, President Bush even mentioned, in his speech, that we will try Iraqi generals for war crimes if they resist our attack.

No, that's not at all what was said. You seem to be making things up. What was said was that if they use chem/bio weaps then they'll be tried as war criminals.

Your misstatements are material... at best serious misunderstandings - at worst outright lies.

We don't want to kill Iraqi people, we don't want to destroy their country. We want wmd gone and Saddam gone. Please educate yourself.

The idea that morality and politics are different is one of the most egregious lies that the left has successfully perpetrated on the populace, taking advantage of the fact that the frailty of humans ensures that there will always be immoral politicians to demagogue.

The left nearly always supports the less moral side in any political battle. And when it appears that they support the moral side, the support is an inch deep and will dissipate as soon as politically expedient.

Hopefully, people will wake up to the idea that politics is inexorably tied to morality, and the only way to minimize evil in the world is to defeat leftism in the political realm.

ISTR that Syria's been a bit of a pain recently, supporting Hezbollah and all that. Plus, they've been helping Iraq evade the sanctions. I wonder if Bush and Sharon have something up their sleve.

People just can't misunderestimate Bush. He'll hand them their heads on a silver platter, and they will smile sweetly and say thank you after he does it.

Will Israel still be allowed to counter attack if a nation (or peoples) other than Iraq attack?

I don't think Iraq will be so bloody, for them or for us. I think it will fall like Madonna's drawers. The real question is what will happen after we get there, when all the Saddam wannabes queue up to take a shot at being the new alpha dog. I fear that we may end up stuck there for a long time.

Our 'arrogance'? More like our survival. Of course, I'd go for the West Bank and Gaza first if it were up to me, go through there like a tornado in a trailer park, then just let Israel deal with Iraq. But you probably have some reason to defend the Pallies as well.

I can assure you that if we are attacked by Russia or China, we will use all weapons at our disposal to defend ourselves, including nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. Heck! We were even prepared to incinerate all of USSR if it dared to attack a NATO country.

So, the argument that Iraqis are not permitted to use all their weapons to defend their nation, has no legitimacy.

There were some great pics of the F-15I, but none showing the Israeli signia on the wings. Besides, I thought the pic was of a Kifr figher -- an Israeli-manufactured version of the French Mirage. Yes?
