Welcome to politics, Mrs. Carnahan.
Did you expect a Republican White House to stump for your re-election?

That simply was not a wise move in a close race.

The original slur, I mean, not the apology. :-)

I understand that some people may have been offended by my comment. I certainly did not intend that, and I offer my apologies.

Thanks for the non-apology Jean...

Is this the same grieving widow who used her husband's death to callously jump into politics?

What superior moral possession does she have to cast aspersions on the tactics of others?

Funny her spokeswoman had stated earlier today that there would be no apology. Jean must have gotten a call from lil tommy.

The Widder is a pathetic excuse for a US Senator. It's no wonder she refused to go on Meet the Press to debate Jim Talent.

"``In fact, my comment was born out of a bit of frustration that I have supported this president on several of his top initiatives, including his defense budget and his tax cuts, yet the White House is still very focused on defeating me,'' she said."

Rush is right, cling to a winner.

"I'm the No. 1 target of the White House. They can't get Osama bin Laden, so they're going to get me."

No, Ms. Carnahan. They're going to get you because you bin Stupid, that's all.

The flips and the flops.... It's a wonder she doesn't get a sprained back from doing this half gainer...... From another article earlier........

Carnahan spokesman Tony Wyche defended the quote as an "off-the-cuff comment. It was not literal."

Wyche said no apology would be forthcoming.

Time for the Missouri Dems to pull a Torricelli? Maybe they will nominate Abraham Lincoln to run for the grieving widow, I'm sure they don't care about trivialities like his party affiliation at such a time as this when the fate of the galaxy, er, world, er, country, er - well, the Senate Dems' privileges and perks - are at stake.

Missouri Sen. Jean Carnahan apologized Wednesday for commenting that the White House ``can't get Osama bin Laden, so they're going to get me.''

We can only hope.

Mark Racicot called it ``unusually odd and inappropriate". Yep, that's the respose from the Pubbie Nat chairman. I'm surprised he didn't offer the apology for her himself. Don't yell BOO at him, he'll probably have a heart attack. CALLING LEE ATWATER!

I need a Talent sign for my front yard more than ever now. This is as bad as the N word that that doddering old fool Byrd said and got away with it. But I doubt Dan rather will report on this...

What a whore... anyway, Carnahan is currently a greater threat to American interests than bin Laden, so that would be the correct priority.

You'll be able to call yourself Senator Carnahan for the rest of your life...you have had your ceremonial tribute to your husband, and now it is time for you to move on, and for MO to elect an actual "legislator."
