I kinda have that feeling too. Either that or he is going to stop cold and not do anymore shooting just like that other sniper did that was hitting CIA agents THE OTHER BELTWAY SHOOTER.

You may be right that the killer will stop because he accomplished his mission.

The politicians are introducing gun control again.

Look for to be in an area not yet touched by this....they will want to expand the area the LEO's have to cover ...before that aircraft is brought online

Arrrgh! I thought it was already up and watching.

My fear now is that they may make this a "big" day, since they may not have any more chances before the surveillance starts. But then, maybe they really aren't so sure that it's not up there already :)

Bright local citizens are trying to determine what's going on without relying on PC spokespeople telling then half-truths

That's heartening news, indeed.

Late last night the news on my local station stated there wasn't enough for a composite picture of the killer and they still don't know the identity of the firearm.

I guess finding specific information on the net will be impossible..but thought you might help with this.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Tuesday approved deployment of the Airborne Reconnaissance Low plane, a DeHavilland DHC-7 equipped with advanced electronic and imagery sensors, including infrared.

The planes were being flown to the region and were expected to join the hunt within days. The aircraft are based at Fort Bliss, Texas, and have been used primarily in the drug war in Latin America.

At least one other type of military aircraft was also deployed. But the exact number of planes, what capabilities they have, and when and where they will fly were not being disclosed, in order to keep such details from the sniper, officials said.

The assistance will be provided in a way meant to comply with the Posse Comitatus Act, an 1878 law that bans the military from domestic law enforcement. That means the military will relay data to law enforcement officials and will not decide on its own what targets to watch, the official said.

The Pentagon’s participation also could involve a system of sensors that could detect flashes of gunfire on the ground, the official said.

But then, maybe they really aren't so sure that it's not up there already :)

At 10 to 20,000 feet they would be able to see it (whether they would know that, might be questionable). The 4 engine Dash or the two engine Queen Air would look like normal commuter aircraft, from the ground.

Very little activity except those two helos and several Commercial Airliners @ > 30,000 feet.

I wonder how much heat a bow and arrow generate?

Maybe this is just one of those things your brother tells you when you're little and gullible, but I seem to remember my brother telling me that merely snapping a rubber band creates a tiny sonic-like boom (bow and arrow might have same effect?).

I realize I'm out on a limb here, and I hope I didn't just give rise to the next FR cult-joke/lexicon addition.

If someone has a good link I would greatly appreciate it, but I am thinking there isn't one that talks about the technology. See post to chemist geek above.

Seems the only thing they can agree on it that he is a male. In other words noone really saw his face close up enough to get a composite sketch. Someone is going to have to be alot closer(and that would be dangerous) to get a sketch on this sniper/snipers.

I'm wondering about the statement they don't know identity of the firearm. I didn't see the interview with the witness so I can't judge that but why are they dismissing a clear and concise identification?
Who has the agenda? The police or the witness?
