Here in North Carolina, the Gubna used up state funds to cover his goofs. He still uses the $2000.00 per-hour (taxpayer funded) helicopter to reach his beach house on the weekends.

And Carolina may have the only Senate candidate being sued. RAT, Erskine Bowles was added to a Connecticut lawsuit to recover more than $120 million in lost pension funds.

I may actually have to resubscribe to our local Milwaukee Urinal to try to keep the players straight in the latest corruption drama . . . whew! They packed 20 years of corruption into one year! When they blow it, they blow it BIG!

Thanks to everyone for a fun, funny thread.

My home state of Pennsylvania should get some mention here. The list of criminals in public office in PA is incredibly long, and getting longer all the time.

And the other signs of corruption are apparent in certain conditions here. You drive up US Route 1 from Maryland on perfect asphalt road, and the minute you cross into PA it's like you've entered the trenches at Stalingrad, in spite of the ridiculously high taxes. PENNDOT has got to be the most corrupt highway department in America.

Michigan has to be in the top quartile. Sheesh, we have sinator half-glasses, sinator stabusnow, soon-to-be governor gladjen - all thanks to Wayne County.

Even my "representative", nick smith, is not worth the ballot he's printed on.

This is a tough one. I live in CT , not only did we have Joe LIEbermann run against a child molester in our last senate electon, [what a Hobson's choice that was], but we're surrounded on all sides by even more corrupt states ... NY - Home of the Xlintoons, Mass - Home of Teddy-the-Hut , VT - home to Jumpin Jim and the first state to condone "same sex marriages" and RI where you have to be mobbed up to even consider holding a public office. Why don't we just saw this whole NE corridor off the rest of the continent and watch it drift out to sea.

This is really unfair. Once again, the lack of statehood for DC is depriving us of our rightful honors in this regard. We even elect two "senators" and have them on the District payroll, just like we would if we were a real state.

Illinois will see that bet and raise 'ya five....King George (Ryan) is in heap big trouble over the license-for-bribe scandal that occured while he was Secretary of State; one of the truckers who supposedly obtained one of those licenses hit a van and killed 6 kids on King George's coronation - I mean election day. Meanwhile, most of his top guys have already been indicted.

Meanwhile, King George, the bitter old lame duck he is appears to be granting blanket clemency to all the death row inmates in the State because he put a moratorium on Ole Sparky at Statesville. Doesn't matter if they're murderers or not, he's lettin' 'em go.

Our Attorney General, Jim Ryan, hasn't investigated all of this stuff, claiming the Feds are handling it. Oddly enough, his first name is much bigger than his last name on all the campaign billboards.

Lee Daniels, the top Republican in the General Assembly got nailed for using State workers to perform campaign work on State time. Oh, King George has also been caught doing this.

Mike Madigan, the top Democrat, has a microscope up his ying-yang for giving some State money to an old classmate for some State fair project. Oh, and by the way, his daughter is running for Attorney General.

I almost forgot, the Democrat running for Governor, Rod Blagojevich - and this is on tape, swear to God - he did try marijuana, but was quote "so inept at it" that he doesn't know if he inhaled or not.

Any good Illinois Freepers out there tonight, please feel free to add to this if I've missed anything.

"The *Crintons supposedly come from Arkansas. They get a head start."

An embarassment doesn't qualify as corruption. Arkansas DID get his *ss out of here. Okay, there is definitely no shortage of Rat corruption here, but they are the minority with a lot of power. Most folks here are good, decent people....and largely conservatives.

Just Follow the Money. There is a reason that Wisconsin is the third highest taxed state.

There has been a general impression that Wisconsin had reasonably honest, but perhaps many incompetent politicians that liked to spend money.

When political leaders start to cut corners to win at any cost, then with the money and power comes the opportunity for corruption. If the citizens don't exercise their responsibilty to be informed and be involved in their government, then the opportunity for corruption becomes reality.

I have observed what I feel is gross incompetence and possibly corruption in our local government. Yet it has been very difficult and time consuming for a group of citizens to make a positive change and to provide information to the public.

Part of the problem and perhaps it contributes to the low voter turnout is whether citizens really know the "character" of their elected officials. Some tend to vote for "good looking" and "well spoken" individuals rather than understanding their basic honesty and ability to serve the best interests of taxpayers.

Conservatives need to engage in rational discussions (and educate) to help individuals understand our positions. We need to monitor how our elected officials perform and take action in order to keep a relatively clean government for a free society.

There's no contest here! New Jersey! Have you all forgotten the absolutely brazen, no shame, slap in the face to The Rule of Law, decision given by the NJSC in the case of Torricelli/Forrester?

The rest of you just have to line up for second place.

( This post is a riot! Imagine! Everyone here WANTING to be from "the most corrupt state"!!!! LOLOL!)

Compare this to the Miss USA contest. First, we whittle down the contestants to a list of five semifinalists.

From reading all the posts and consulting other sources, the semi-finalists for systemic corruption over two generations at multiple levels of government are Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. Sorry, you other guys just cannot compare, could compare but only with a single instance instead of multiple examples or long periods of time, or did not make strong enough arguments.

Then, for the final round, each state will be presented with a challenge: to name the single most corrupt elected official at the school-district, municipal, county, state, and federal levels. The Bill Clinton Award for Lifetime Achievement will be presented to that state which garners the majority vote of the judges on three out of five of these categories. Personally, I believe Louisiana is the favorite in this contest.

Here in the Communist state of NY (I live in Upstate, NY), land is being confiscated by the Gov't aka, the Rockefellers, through front groups. These groups are called Open Space Institute and Scenic Hudson both funded by the Rockefellers. All the land is being gobbled up and our taxes are shooting up. Patakifeller has campaign adds that say he has made NY a great state by having Gov't land acquisitions and he has made the air safe to breath and the water safe to drink. He is pathetic.

The sad thing is, most NYers don't even realize what is going on or they do but they are Free loaders off the Gov't.
