MD. Dem Guv candidate summons dead early
NBC eve. news

Posted on 10/19/2002 4:53:50 PM PDT by pollwatcher

NBC evening news for Sat. 10/18 had a report on how Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is apparently running gun-issue ads showing Columbine to defame her GOP opponent, Bob Ehrlich. The reporter DID say that polls showed it may be "backfiring" some fifty-odd percent to twenty-eight percent.

This is a VERY close, and IMPORTANT race. The DIMs dirty tricksters and the Kennedy Cash Cow will stop at nothing.

WILL the MD and regional GOP AND the NRA have the foresight and cohunnas to rally members to take election day off and go into the city and observe the polling places?

IF this close race ends in another Glendenning style, last-minute-after-midnight-inner city-vote count, then NO ONE should complain!

I needed to explain my headline. Ms. Kennedy-Townsend now has to resort to referring to how guns have affected her family. (No mention that it was a Communist and a Palestinian pulling the triggers!)

As a resident of a state where there's a lot of Spanish spoken, I'd like to say that the word is cojones. And I'm glad the gun ad is backfiring (no pun intended, I'm sure) on Kennedy-Townsend. Perhaps there is an actual limit to voter tolerence for tastelessness and political opportunism.

Did you notice that Bill and Hill showed up to campaign for Townsend and only raised $600k for her campaign (Bill got $500k and Hill got $100k). In contrast, GW Bush showed up about two weeks ago and raised $1.8 million in one fundraiser.

Remember, the late money goes to the candidate that is likely to win. Keep praying for Ehrlich/Steele and get out there and vote.

By the way, I wonder how much additional money was raised by Ehrlich by folks who were sick about the Clintoons showing up in Maryland. I hope a whole lot!

I saw the Bush/Ehrlich rally, which included some GREAT footage of the President endorsing Ehrlich as they stood together on the stage.

But the Ehrlich campaign is NOT USING this footage (at least so far) in its TV ads.

????

Does anyone know why?

If you want to stop these guys from committing Columbine/Sniper style killings, then instead of taking away the guns of law abiding citizens, why don't they shut down the media? These guys are all doing it for the publicity. Without the media, there would be no killing.

Hopefully someone in the Ehrlich camp has read your post and/or they have already planned on doing so. I just know that this is going to be dirty, right until the end. One of my favorite movies comes to mind when one of the lines was "Bring out your dead"!

I agree that the media's a major contributing factor, but do we hear them talking about confiscating televisions?

Another thing, Ms Hyphenated name candidate also promised not to use the Sniper incident as a campaign issue.........Well, did we think that a licentious, ludicrous, luciferian, lying left-wing liberal would ever keep a promise? They don't even believe in obeying the laws of this land. They instead get a like minded luciferian court to change the laws of a state so that whatever these demon-rats want, they get. They didn't get the decision from a court of appeals, they got their decision from a court that appeals to them.

Yes. Maryland is the most liberal state in the south and overrun with idiots who voted for Gore.

Ehrlich is winning because people dislike Townsend so much; not because they like Republicans.

I wonder if she'll resort to talking about women drowning in cars has affected her, too?

That's not fair. How else do you expect her to get the customary Dim 104+% of the black vote?

Glendenning style

This is a good term that you have coined. But the "Glendenning style" is not confined to MD. It can be used anywhere a Democrat might otherwise come up short on election night: namely SD, MN, St. Louis, South TX, South FL. The possibilities are endless. Even in NH.

Yes. I have been volunteering for the Ehrlich campaign, and I have been assured that there will be GOP monitors at the Baltimore polling places (I assume those are the ones you are referring to)
I agree that this is the most important part of Ehrlich's campaign.

graveyard mean anything neighbor? They've used the skull factory more than once in an election. I don't think they will hesitate now.

I live in MD and KK Townsend is running commercials everywhere and going neg. I don't see what Ehrlich's campaign is spending their money on...one add, kind of a lame one at that.

True, but Bush is very popluar here now & Ehrlich isn't taking advantage of it. If he loses by 1%, it will be because he didn't use the Bush endorsement when he could have.

What really set me off after the shakey '94 election was reading in the SUN that the MD GOP couldn't find enough pollwatchers - even for $100/day. The DIMs have no problem finding enough unemployed and off-job Unionist to do their deeds.

Tom Marr once observed that the GOP observers in some of the questionable districts were "Republicans in name only." I hope we have a handle on this.

If Bob uses Bush, look for Kathy to invoke her deceased family in ads to push the buttons of the faithful

My fear is this: with the race being so close, and the choices so clear, the DIM establishment will only need to do a little tweaking to put enough votes over, ala '94. And with them running the whole show, there will be nowhere we can find justice ("takin' it to the streets?" :-) )
