CHILD SUPPORT: Officials say suspect had threatened staff before.

Two floors of the 19-story Atwood Building were evacuated Thursday morning after a man parked his blue Mercedes near the building's entrance, doused the car with gasoline and set it ablaze.

What we can also reasonably assume by the child support orders in two states where he no longer resides, that Jed Magby and his Mercedes Benz appear to run away from his problems until they find him.

No, that's just something you're making up. It's not a reasonable assumption.

It is reasonable to assume that this guy is a deadbeat dad.

There's no basis for that.

With all due respect, we've had several male friends whose choices were quite reasonable. Seemingly good solid women with healthy backgrounds who go on after children are born to flake completely out and end the marriage. We have just such a friend right now who is from a VERY traditional family(no warning to this) who decided she wants to focus on her career instead of their one yr old daughter and 6 yr old marriage. I mean her behavior is almost pathological it's beyond comprehension. I can tell you this story many times over too. I do seem to notice a trend of women flipping out like this AFTER having children and I'm starting to suspect some link between hormonal turmoil and bad decision making(not to excuse it, but I wish women would consider the possibility before making any sort of big decisions like this). BTW, this friend does not want his marriage to end and is very upset for his daughter because his wife is rejecting her.
Anyway my point is that, yes, some men make poor decisions a to who they pick, some women do to, but anymore, some women seem perfectly stable when they are marrying them and then change in incomprehensible ways as the marriage moves on.

I'll mention another thing about this situation that should stick out like a sore thumb until Larry Persily, state Department of Revenue deputy commissioner, is fired and jailed. He immediately responded to the press by opening up Jed Magby's file and releasing personal information in order to demonize the guy. I'm actually afraid to hear what all the pretend "conservatives" have to say about the fact that the computer system they use contains personal information about all of them, and that it's not confidential. A lot of these goofballs will say that it's ok.

Oh, and from the article there is basis for a corrupt government? Strange logic.

releasing personal information

What "personal information" was that? That the arsonist owed child support and sent threatening letters?

Yes, but as a single woman you are not being at all fair on the subject. I wonder if you have any MALE friends going through what some of ours have been through and if you callously say, well work on that marriage bub. It's just not that simple, especially when the female part of the equation is acting out of character and being stubborn about holding the marriage together. It is not always the guys fault independent and it's reflective of your lack of experience in your life or through friends, that you would act as though it is. In my experience, which seems to be more extensive than yours, more often than not, it's the woman that flips out and destroys the marriage and she has nothing to loose when doing so. And I've unfortunately observed a couple handfuls of marriages of coworkers that this happened to.

That is exactly the effect that the feminist movement intends. I'm sure I sound a little flipant in the way I say it, but women are encouraged to blame men and divorce whenever they have a bad hair day. Continually questioning their marriages along with the institution of marriage generally ("slavery for women") is daily bread. Along with that, the constant search for an alternative to the marriage they've sworn their committment to. When the bad hair days come, the chance for divorce varies with the character and hormonal effects of individual women. I believe that in the current social environment, with the strong feminist influence and no counter-culture for many (men can't have a counter effect on their wives because they're men) the chance that some women will get divorced before their children are 10 is 100%. It can be quite undetectible in advance for most men, and impossible to avoid when it comes.

with severely bruised spirits, and very irrational ideas about relationships, marriage, and responsibility>>

Jaded?

I feel for you. My mother was in your shoes in her marriage to my dad. I know the pain you went through, I saw it first hand with her. Prayers that God will send you a stable woman who values marriage more than her ego.

We don't know about "threatening letters." There is no credible information about that. We just know that the guy from the Dept. of Revenue demonized Jed Magby. But yes, certainly, the release of information about his child support debt was the release of personal information. You have to be a complete wacko if you think that's an appropriate act by a government employee.

It is a well-established (and by that I mean it is absolutely established as fact) that the system is corrupt and designed to be abusive. The article did not provide that information. The author's spin was in favor of the system and intent on demonizing the protester.

We don't know about "threatening letters."

From the article:

"About a month ago, Magby wrote a threatening letter to the office, Persily said."

So what was this personal information that you allege was given out?

Your bluff has been called, show what ya got.

Geez, I was very fortunate in my divorce. I don't know what he makes now, but I got the standard 23% which at the time was $320 a month. Just out of convenience we didn't sign up for the state mandated version of child suport and the state never persued it. He pays regularly. He pays half of her lessons and other stuff since she's in High School and very involved in extracurriculars. He helps with clothes as well. He doesn't complain. He sees her once a week for his 6 hours (an agreement when she was very young)or as often as her schedule allows.

OTOH, his first wife was not as fortunate and there was always a question about the parentage of some of the children.

He knew better than to jack with me on the support issue.

(Hell, even if you were the model husband, and she left you for a drug convict, you at least have to be blamed for poor investigation and judgment.)

True. An investigation would have turned up that my ex had been a mental patient. But love is blind, deaf, dumb, and stupid.

One would think at 38 I'd be a bit smarter. Still, I'm glad I adopted my daughter, and started my son from scratch.

In my family, three of my four brothers are divorced, and at least two of them are very bitter men because of the child support they must pay. (They view it as cash payments to some bitch they hate, who won't use it on the kids). They might be right.

We'll never know. There is NO, none, zip, nada system to account for the disposition of as much as a single ¢ of child support.

Quit your belly aching, pay what you can, and be the best damn dad you can be no matter the circumstances.

The children deserve nothing less.

It is reasonable to assume that this guy is a deadbeat dad.

Based on the two cited court orders, the amount owed and the age of the individual, I agree. And he has most likely been a deadbeat for years.

The fact that the deadbeat owes money is public record and not confidential. Every support order is filed with the appropriate county recorder and is open to the public usually. Subsequent actions concerning $55,000. arrearages are also public when filed with the county recorder.

Nope, I think there are two sides to this story, but for every situation likes your girlfriends and my mothers CTID, I can tell you of a number of male friends whose wives went weird on them and decided to end the marriage. As I said, perhaps we need to get back to fault divorce.
