I do seem to notice a trend of women flipping out like this AFTER having children and I'm starting to suspect some link between hormonal turmoil and bad decision making (not to excuse it, but I wish women would consider the possibility before making any sort of big decisions like this).

You're not the only one who thinks this. I know women who have done this or some who have been tempted to (myself included).

I think it may be related to post-partum depression, but the symptoms include a feeling of being trapped, like a wild animal, and minor things get blown out of proportion. Some women choose to leave their husbands at a time when they and the children need them the most. She may be sorry three years from now, but that won't do the poor guy any good!

In any case, the experience is beyond reason. I can't explain it, but I do remember a good friend of mine told me that she didn't think women should make any life-changing decisions until at least three years after childbirth, because that's when she gets her common sense back and not running on hormones. It also helped to have a very supportive husband who is a good listener!

Part of the irrational behavior is the forever being linked to someone you do not love/or care about (if ever). Suddenly the child is a permaned bond between the two adults. The child is screwed either way. Do young adult women even understand fatherhood anymore? (father of the children from the start fatherhood. Not just some substitute to raise her mistake.)

Amen. One of the hard adjustments in a man's married life, I believe, comes when his wife starts putting the babies first, rather than him first. A mature man understands that this is nature's way, but an immature man feels shut out.

It's a passing thing, the babies won't be babies forever, and then the husband will come first again, if the relationship is good.
