"With the traffic stopped, I imagine it would be very difficult to get there by ground transportation."

Or to get outta there...the authorities are gettin' pretty quick in setting up these dragnets. And notice how this sniper is now doing his dirty work under the cover of darkness...the dude's starting to feel the heat, I reckon.

They should certainly release the entire text of the letter. And a photo of the missing French sniper. And the info on the Tarot cards. What cards were left behind, and in what order? And and and

In other words, they should tip their hand and let you/us see everything? Oh, please. Grow up. Law enforcement will release such informaton on a need to know basis. And right now, you/we don't need to know.

They are letting out what they can or feel they can let out in order to maximize their chances of ending this. They aren't about to release information that will let you play armchair Columbo if they feel it will hamper the investigation.

One other point - Moose at one point made mention of not releasing information due to interests of "national security." No one mentioned that again. A slip of the tongue?

Hi rintense. I got that quote here word for word.

I just got home from picking up my daughter from school. I wanted to catch the press conference so I taped it. Just got finished reading this whole thread and wanted to add to what you just said, OReilly. I even watched it three times to make sure and wrote it down. So, this is his exact quote to the question that was put to him about partial information:

"paints a group or causes people to be misidentified, causes them some hardship, that's the dilemma we want to stay away from."

The thing that stood out to me was the term he used first -- group. The only group I know of that might suffer some hardship is the very same group that suffered after 9/11.

Fact is, "French person" now adays could just as well be a Morrocan or Yemen born Islamic, or a coal-black Nigerian.

I am quite sure that I heard earlier that the "French" sniper was from Yugoslavia. Since Yugoslavia does not exist, I take this as code for Bosnia.

"...isn't it interesting how the Vast LeftWing Medyuh Whore'd keeps mentioning "another Timothy McVeigh" and never "another UniBomber"!!"

"When did they say this??"

It was on FoxNewsChannel last night...MUD

Using the reverse, kneejerk liberal and national media deduction technique to 'profile' hate crimes, i.e. when the victims are non white and the perps are missing, they come to the conclusion he is 'white'. Yet, in this, case, all races have been shot (strange English, I know!), except Middle Eastern. But they will not reverse their logic and say this points to a Middle Easterner.

They ought to be called on this.

But, then again, on FR, we have know for years that POLITICAL CORRECTNESS is both ILLOGICAL and downright DANGEROUS.

My guess is that the shooter is not employed, and not married (unless his spouse is in on the gig). And when I say "unemployed" I don't mean in the sense that he is some deadbeat who lost his job like Michael Douglas in that shooter movie of his, (what was it "Falling Down" or something like that) I just believe this guy has little or no association with anyone because it is always the assocations that get these types caught. IF he was employed somewhere, then that would heighten the chances something could go wrong. Early on there were speculations that they shooter was employed with come company that had white vans and that is why he didn't shoot on weekends. Well, I cannot buy that position. IF he works, then he has to be in specific places at specific times. That would tie him down too much. Open up the chance that he would be missed. Not where he was expected to be. Thus in this heightened state of awareness of the public, that would result in reports of LE. No, this guy, is out of work. By choice. By necessity. By plan. That gives him freedom. That gives him control. IF he worked, he wouldn't have complete control. And he doesn't have any associations with anyone, (not close anyway). Too much risk. This is his job. This is his occupation for now. this is his life for now. No time for anyone else. No time for fraternizing, other than just casual contacts and conversations.

Yes. He did make that comment about national security, I believe in response to a question about the FBI going to Gitmo. Refused further comment on it as well.

Also, I also remember that comment about groups being unfairly targetted, and I think several people commented on it. I believe this was after the shooting at the gas station (father of 6) but before the Home Depot shooting.

"...they explain how now police think the Saturday night call was from the real sniper, because the cops missed the call time the sniper requested in the letter."

A co-worker just told me the same thing...reckon my initial understanding could be dead wrong.

Not only THAT, but apparently the handwriting on the letter did NOT match the handwriting on the Tarot Card(s)...

>>The theory is that they want to mobilize all forces and capture the person first, then they can release that he was an AQ but since they have him in custody they could then urge strong public obedience not to strike out against any area Religion of Peace-ists<<

I find it incredible that we are sheltering an enemy army. I mean, I understand LE concern about riots, vigilantes, etc, etc (but there is NO evidence that Americans will react that way)-however, at the National Defense level, what POSSIBLE excuse is there for the continued existence of a large hostile population which contains many enemy soldiers, who are here only at our discretion?

I just don't get it.

I won't be surprised if the shooter next tries to contact the media...

I have been thinking this may be the next step as well. If it is the sniper who wrote the note and made the call(s) to police, he will not be content to have his message garbled by LE. If he has a message he wants let out, he will try to get it out any way he thinks he can.

Ah yes, let the bureaucrats decide what the public needs to know. That is how a free and open society is run.
