[history]
Amid speculation that President Bush is reconsidering what will constitute "regime change in Iraq," one thing should be clear: Saddam Hussein's willingness to "change" his attitude towards permitting the resumption of intrusive on-site U.N. weapons inspections will not, in fact, eliminate the danger posed by him and his ruling clique.

What is news is that, according to the Evening Standard, the Bush Justice Department has apparently, finally begun to take a serious interest in Ms. Davis' evidence.

IF this is proven, it would be plenty to go to war on, IMHO. Much sounder than Bush's statements so far. However, it appears that dubya is COMMITTED to war, no matter what and may be looking into this as cover for what he intends all along. Which is quite scary....

Has anyone refuted her theories yet? I'd like to know that info so I can intelligently debate it with people who don't buy this.
To: Republican Wildcat
Could you perhaps specify WHY? Your present three syllables are essentially as valuless as other of your defenses of dubya.

Nice that Fox is running with the ball a bit. It will be interesting to see if the other networks do. It's an interesting angle, but I am pretty skeptical. Everyone looked for a muslim terrorist before turning to the militia angle - one of our own.

I haven't seen any refutations of her information myself.

The burden of proof is on you. You made the charge.
It doesn't really matter. You and I both know that isn't true. Your only motivation is to attack the President for whatever bizarre reasons you have.
To: dcwusmc
In all likelihood, the Bush Administration has sufficient evidence right now to make a case against Saddam and involvement in the Oklahoma City bombing. But to reveal what they already know would most probably also be a scathing indictment of the regime of the "Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001", not merely of incompetence, but of some active enabling of the means to deliver the bomb to the location where it was detonated. And that the Bush Administration will not do. They are leaving this to be determined by historians studying documents that had been kept from public view, a hundred years from now. Even today, we cannot find out what was in many of the documents connected with the Kennedy assassination, which happened almost 39 years ago.

I made an opinionated comment. You chose to call it baloney without backing it up with an informed refutation. Your mindless defense of the indefensible is what I have come to expect from you. Your party loyalty obscures what SHOULD be your loyalty to the Constitution and the United States. Pity.

Perhaps you are correct. IF this is the case, dubya needs to be seriously smacked around. I do believe that x42 was into some pretty evil sh!t and having it covered up by dubya is inexcusable. We would not even KNOW about these links if Jayna Davis and our (former) Patrick Briley had not kept on top of things over the years. They are to be as commended as the two involved administrations are to be condemned...

I expect a dark corner data dump to "move on" beyond this explosive news probably during the throes of the Iraq war. Consider also what is dug up in Iraq later will probably overwhelm this news as well.
To: uscit
I agree. For many it is kinda late though. Enlisting them to go back to take their govt back is apparently being considered.

And that the Bush Administration will not do If we were only implicating a former president, then there might be justification in not airing his dirty laundry. Unfortunately, this ex-presidents wife is now a US Senator stating she 'wont run for President'. Considering that many of her followers assumed she was really running the Presidency while the black painted President was getting his knob polished, allowing him to go free from traitorous acts may lead this country to further peril. Especially since Hillary may use her (now a factoid) fascist goon squad to win a presidential election. Remember what we could be dealing with if Hillary is elected president, (Reno using Gestapo tactics to forceably kidnap and deliver a free child to a communist dictator).

It's an interesting angle, but I am pretty skeptical. Everyone looked for a muslim terrorist before turning to the militia angle - one of our own. Yeah, the thing is with me- I was stationed overseas while all this was going on, preparing to be deployed. I never got to follow the story that closely. I never came back to the States and after leaving the Army, rarely encountered Americans. So whenever I hear people discussing the various theories, conspiracy angles, John Does- I find it intriguing, but don't know what to make of it. I have no clue if there's anything to the various theories or not. For me it would be interesting to see this explored while I'm paying attention and while a Republican is President- just to see what comes out of it. I feel like I was lost in a time warp while all this happened.
My one question I always have- Why doesn't Terry Nichols ever mention any Middle Eastern connection in exchange for a plea bargain or just for plain old media coverage? It seems like now with the war on terror and since 9/11, if he had info like that people would be really interested in hearing it and it would be pretty relevent I'd say.
Ach... Questions, questions. They'll never be answered. I'm a 'Lee Harvey Oswald did it alone' man myself, but IF...

There's no way for Bush and Ashcroft to look into this on their own and not have it look as if it's politically motivated. Specter finally serves a purpose by bringing it up and asking for it to be looked at. The evidence has already been compiled by Davis and others and it's quite compelling. Just remember the old saw "timing is everything". Expect the dump around the first week of November. It'll be in a nice, neat package that not only implicates Clinton, but the Dem's in the Senate that protected his sorry ass during impeachment. It'll also have the effect of rendering the UN totally useless after they veto the new resolution on Iraq.

If there really is something there...and it seems there may be....and it comes out as you predict, that would be fine with me. But how is the information coming out just before the election not looking political?
It would be nice if some people just did what is right, and is also their duty without playing political games, or trying not to look political which is a game in itself.
That is what I voted for, after all.
To: Endeavor
It would be nice if you would explain why, in your opinion, this is so... what proof do you possess or have links to that show my opinion to be incorrect. Please post it or them. Otherwise, if you have nothing else to tell me, bugger off.
On my side, the public record shows that dubya is determined to go to war to do a "regime change" in Iraq. It's Pax Americana and the beginnings of the American Empire, near as I can determine it. If he has good cause to go to war, I am with him. Right now it seems he's SEARCHING for a cause to do what he already wants to do. I would welcome it if you can prove me wrong.

"News - "the Bush Justice Department has apparently, finally begun to take a serious interest in Ms. Davis' evidence." This is b.s. The Bush Administration has been well aware of what happened re: the OKC bombing at least since March, when Danny Defenbaugh was unceremoniously dumped from his job, along with the rest of the FBI officials involved in the OKC Bombing.
I am told the Philadelphia Inquirer is planning to run a story Sunday upending Jayna's facts, and that former FBI officials will be quoted.
I suggest a general flame. It has to take place tomorrow, since the weekend papers have early deadlines.
No cuss words, just serious concern, together with lots and lots and lots of links.
Sign your real name, and tell them where you live, and why you are worried about this and cannot accept anymore government/media hogwash, and how the rest of the country won't either, given the current situation in regard to terrorism.
Tell them they will have blood on their hands if they don't take the time to check their facts and simply take the word of government officials without further investigation.
Tell them they first and foremost have a responsibility to tell the truth, and that, no matter what the editors may think of Arlen Specter, he is still a U.S. Senator and should be scrutinized as such, not as a lunatic of sorts, despite the single bullet, despite Ira Einhorn, etc. etc.etc.
Again, he has managed to get re-elected to the Senate for more than 20 years, so that must count for something.
Do it. Write.
Even if it's only two sentences, it will count for something. There is strength in numbers, when it comes to the media.
Also --if there's anybody on the ping list or out there in cyberland (and I know there is, without anyone telling me anything) who has details to share about this but has not shared them with the rest of us, please consider calling the Philadelphia Inquirer and telling them, and furnishing them with whatever evidence you can.Remember that is a media organization, not a government organization (yet) and they sometimes are willing to list people as unidentified sources.

I understand you're planning an attack on Jayna Davis and using FBI grumblers as sources.
Jayna Davis has been earnestly assembling facts. The FBI has been busily obstructing the investigation into John Doe Number Two.
Do not do a terrible disservice to the security of America by slandering Ms. Davis and giving these criminally negligent obfuscators ink.

If this is true why the hell didn't Clinton make war on Saddam instead of making war on right wing talk show hosts? IMHO, for Clinton it was always about him. His political enemies were always more odious in his eyes than the Nation's enemies. Besides, there was a huge groundswell of anti-Clinton opinion in the country that had to be dealt with, and was, by him shifting the blame to the VRWC. Remember, Clinton was politically on the ropes at this time and OKC saved his pasty, fat, political @$$ for yet another term - and maybe kept him from jail.
It was all about him, again! The interests of America never have counted.

I promise, one day, this information will come out (if it's not all shredded) and I'll bet we can find a cover-up by the Clinton administration.
They were too giddy blaming the OKC bombing on right wing militias and Rush Limbaugh!
But then again, even a memo written by Bill Clinton with his semen stains on it won't convince the braindead Clinton lovers out there that he's a madman!

Even today, we cannot find out what was in many of the documents connected with the Kennedy assassination, which happened almost 39 years ago.Yeah, and in a new book, the author reports and shows how Carter and Tip O'Neill begged the Soviets for help in 1980 in defeating Reagan! He got most of his info from KGB files! This stuff comes out eventually.
Democrats are pure scum!

If he has good cause to go to war, I am with him.Try picking up a paper some time. Watch cable news. You obvioulsy read FreeRepublic but don't comprehend well.
The evidence is overwhelming. But all I need is the FACT that Iraq has broken every ceasefire agreement since 1991. Thus, we fire again!
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
