WELLSTONE CAMPAIGN CONTINUES RUNNING COMMERCIAL
Fox News ^
Posted on 10/26/2002 1:31:03 PM PDT by Recovering_Democrat
Carl Cameron in St. Paul just reported this: the Wellstone campaign is continuing to air a "touchy-feely" pro-Wellstone campaign ad. Norm Coleman, the Republican nominee, has dropped all radio and tv ads out of respect.
I cannot believe the audacity of the Democrats. I hope this backfires on them.

Hey this MN you are talking about, they have no shame there.
They need to keep ripping off money from the rest of the country.
the rats are the sworn enemy of a constitutional republic.
They only crave power and slaves.

That's not all, I heard they are considering allowing Dem absentee voters to vote 'again' at the polls also, if they like.
Coleman should immediately film and air his own touchy-feely ad allowing sympathy for the Wellstone family, etc. and that he will continue to 'fight' for Minnesota if the voters will send him to Washington.

Good for Fox News to report this!

COME ON, MINNESOTA, GET A CLUE!!!
Republicans should NOT have stopped the Coleman media drop today. We must continue to vocalize why our policies are better. You can do that w/o referring to Wellstone.
Hasn't the Republican Party LEARNED from the Carnahan/Ashcroft fiasco??? Sheesh! These idiots can't understand that we cannot sit on our hands and be silent? The DIMS certainly aren't!!!
As a party which is unfairly, yet, constantly depicted as evil and self serving, we are so inept at simply getting out what we truly stand FOR.
I'm no marketing guru, but I have a better clue than those on the Coleman campaign who have decided to stop campaigning for the "appropriate" number of days.
Come on, people, get a freakin' clue!!!

Hey this MN you are talking about, they have no shame there Please do not include us freedom-loving, country-loving Minnesotans in your statement !!!
Believe me, we have more than our share of socialists, but not all of us are bad !!! ;~)

Fox was just interviewing some reporter?( no ID was given, in the 5 minutes I watched)and his take on the MN Senate race-Coleman should pack it in,it's over, there is no way he can win now, blah, blah, blah. I got the impression he was a newspaper person and the implied threat was-Coleman better not try and campaign, because we will destroy him, for being so insensitive.I do not understand why the death of Wellstone means the Republicans must lose this seat.Life goes on-is the whole state going into a state of suspension-because of the death of one man?? Coleman better not let the Dems and their media cohorts railroad him, into an election forfeiture!!

Some of us speculated yesterday that even though the Republicans were suspending campaigning out of respect, that the Dems would try to take advantage of the situation. I'm sorry to see that we were right, but in no way surprised.
I'm sure the Dems would say that airing their ads is a tribute to their dead candidate, but a Republican ad would be seen as unfair and tasteless.

I hadn't heard that. I did hear they had mailed out some 100,000 absentee ballots which if you figure half were returned and half voted for Wellstone, would give Coleman a 25000 vote head start.
I hope if the Dem's do go with Mondale that Coleman wont be afraid to go negative. Time has softened memories of what a horrible administration he was part of they need to be reminded how weak Carter/Mondale left the US.

They are shameless. And it's working. Mondale will win the Wellstone sympathy vote, resign, and have someone else appointed to serve the six years. This on the heels of the Torricelli felony.
Taking back the House is now a 1 in 4 shot.
Repubs never learn, do they? They bring a pair of boxing gloves to a gun fight. This year or 2004 will bring an end to the Republican Party for the next 20-30 years.

Within 2 or 3 days the Dems should announce their candidate. Until then, no one really has a clue how Coleman will matchup against this person.
Remember that Coleman is a former Democrat & generally popular throughout the state (esp. the Twin Cities). I still like his chances.

Taking back the House is now a 1 in 4 shot. Oops. Should be "Senate..."
To: Wild Irish Rogue
He should not give up, but how can anyone win against a sympathy vote? Coleman may have less of a chance now, in what was called a very tight race, with Mondale filling in. Read something recently that Minnesotans were not entirely happy with Wellstone breaking his two-term pledge, also many were outraged that he'd go along with the partial-birth abortion.
Many are praising Wellstone now, but I'll be darned if I can say anything positive about him, dead or alive. IMO, the Dems in this race are in far better shape now that he's gone.

...boxing gloves...
I must disagree, the only thing Trent Lott will bring to the floor is "Rubbers".
He obviously cannot stand real penetration into the Democrat/Socialist agenda...

How is dropping ads by Coleman showing "respect" ... geez, is Coleman making the same mistake Ashcroft did????
If anything, Coleman needs to run more ads to show he is the RIGHT CHOICE. There is no disrespect here, COlman want sot be the next Senator for MN!!!
