Operation Infinite FReep: Colorado Style, 11/2/02
11/02/02 | Trteamer

Posted on 11/02/2002 3:39:19 PM PST by Trteamer

A well dressed crowd of patriots enjoyed an hour playing in the snow and Supporting Our Troops on the corner of Mulberry and College Ave in Fort Collins today. The weather wasn't bad at all, the sidewalk was clear of snow and the sun was out. The good citizens showed a tremendous amount of support today and horn honking was spreading throughout the lines of cars at the light......

TOPICS: Activism/Chapters
KEYWORDS:
Freepers in attendance were BikeTrash and family along with Trteamer. Jim, Joe, Terry, Terry #2, Leon, Harry, The "Girls" and other veterans represented the VFW today. Paul played on the bagpipes and was excellent, did you know that once you warm up the bagpipe that it sounds REALLY good in cold weather! Well it sure did! We have such a great crew of dedicated people, I am so proud to stand with them each week.

We got 6 inches of snow yesterday and the temperature today was right around 30 degrees. I just dressed like I would for goose hunting and it was toasty, and fun! The roads were clear and the public was again trying to create traffic gridlock at our intersection.

We had several Viet Nam Vets stop by today and chat. One vet lost his leg 35 years ago on Wednesday and thanked us, he was promptly thanked back. He told us he knows war only too well, but understands the purpose behind going after Saddam. He then proceded to cross the street right through the middle of the peace-nik crowd, and was not too happy with their ignorance.

My digital camera had low batteries and the cold didn't help, but I did manage to snap a few pictures before it died. Here they are for your enjoyment....

Leon did admit afterwards that he was a little bit frozen towards the end. The public loves to give him a "honk" !

The VFW "Girls", I think they really like facing off across the street from the useful idiots.

The traffic was heavy, the sun was out, our spirits were high, A great FReep once again developes!

Son of BikerTrash with his sign "GIVE SELF-DEFENSE A CHANCE", he was wearing his green belt karate outfit and had fun actually playing in the snow.

How NEON signs jump out at you when the sun shines on the snow!

I didn't get any group pictures or any of the useful idiots today, Sorry, I'll get lots of batteries for next week! Speaking of the idiots, they made up more stupid signs and looked as pitiful as ever. The "Women in Black" were over there with thier very informative banner that reads "Women in Black". I prefer to call them the B...... in Black, you can probably guess what the "B" stands for!! How unhappy they look, how stupid they all look. The girl in the "Grim Reaper" outfit once again did her "I am Stupid" dance to the bagpipe music. We all crack up when she does that.

Once again the Infinte Freep keeps FReeping on!! Thanks to all who attended and a special thanks to our Troops! This FReeps for You!!

All the Best

BRRR! Tell me, how do you dress like you are going hunting? I am trying to figure out how I can go out on Friday nights and not freeze in California?

Loved the pictures of you great patriots on the snow covered streets. I still have to say I love Colorado, snow and frigid temps and all!

A big thanks to all of you for getting out there in spite of the weather and showing such enthusiastic support for our wonderful men and women who are risking it all for us!

OH, WONDERFUL report! The pics bring that old song to mind, "I'm FReeping in the snow, Just freeping in the snow." Way to go!

Your Grim Reaper Girls don't sound too pleasant to deal with. Thank you for supporting America and facing the maroons every week!

P.S. I better not tell my husband what you said about the bagpipes. He'd stick our cat in the freezer.

It hasn't made it to slush yet, too bad! The snow was not good enough to make a snowman to hold our signs, oh well. We will all hold our breath for the Election on Tuesday. See you next weekend!

Well ladyinred, in case you ever take up goose hunting or need to saty warm in FResno here are a couple of tips.
Layers, lots of layers.

Start out with polypropylene sock liners followed by heavyweight wool socks. Turtleneck shirt, jeans, wool sweater, fleece coat, thinsulate fleece hat, thinsulate bib overalls, Sorel felt lined boots, wool army gloves. ALL in catail camoflage of course!!LOL!!

That should cause heat stroke in FResno, but works well for me at 30 degrees or so. Oh how I like to tease you in FResno about your California weather! Please don't freeze.

Thanks for the support of our support.

I've been crackin' up all day about all the work one of the idiots put into her "Blessed are the peacemakers" sign, evidently not knowing we've had a sign for months now that says "Our Troops ARE the Peacemakers." We made sure that sign was pointed at them the whole time...lol!

How does that old song go again..."Why do you think they call it dope?"

Thanks! My gosh, I am not sure we can even buy all those kinds of things in California! I understand they have electric socks but I am not sure where I can plug them in on the street corner!

I can promise you this lady doesn't go hunting except for sales at Macy's, but I really do appreciate the tips for staying warm outside. I don't want to give up freeping the creeps until Spring, so I will see if I can find the clothing you mentioned here somewhere! Thanks a lot!

Trteamer,
Thanks for carring on. I had all intentions of being there, but got invited back to Steamboat to fill another elk tag.

We were dressed for hunting too. A foot of fresh snow on Saturday morning produced more meat for the freezer. I hope to be there this week.

Have you ever wondered where they, the antis go after they leave FT. Collins at 1:00 PM?

This is from the Loveland Reporter Herald Sunday edition.

========================

The young man driving north on Taft Avenue gunned the motor of his red and white Ford Bronco an yelled something unintelligible.

His look suggested uncomplimentary words.

"If they really want to make their point, they ought to come over and tell us in person," Loveland resident Deb Stucklen said Saturday as she stood at one of the city's busiest intersections with signs showing her opposition to war in Iraq.

"We can't hear what they're saying as the car speeds by," she said.

A girl, a passenger in a dark-colored Honda, was traveling south on Taft Avenue. She looked over at the group and gave the thumbs-up as the driver waited for the light to change at Eisenhower Boulevard.

"We get more positive honks and waves and peace signs," Loveland resident Jim Mosley offered. "At least I'd say 10 to 1 positive to negative, of course with a lot more blank stares."

So it goes at Taft Avenue and Eisenhower Boulevard from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. every Saturday, Stucklen said.

Loveland's peace demonstration, which started here a month ago, follows a weekly vigil in Fort Collins at Mulberry Street and College Avenue on Saturdays from noon until 1 p.m., she said.

The Fort Collins demonstration geared up shortly after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and Stucklen said another group now meets to counterprotest.

"I don't know what the other group is named," she said. "All I know is they say, 'Support our troops' and 'Thank a vet.' They have a (sign with a) picture of (Osama) bin Laden with bars in front of his face."

The people Saturday in Loveland's group of 10 said they oppose an impending war in Iraq for various reasons, among them the harm that could come to innocent civilians.

And they stood in the cold to make that point.

Their signs cite millions of deaths since sanctions were imposed in 1991. They display pictures of babies losing battles against illnesses.

Stucklen holds one sign with a doe-eyed girl without arms, her head wrapped in the traditional hijab scarf that covers the head and neck as a symbol of modesty.

The caption: "War maims." "Saddam Hussein is a jerk. He's evil. I totally agree," Holly Roessner said.

But she also said that was beside the point.

"There are other ways" to achieve peace, Roessner said. "You don't have to go and bomb the daylights out of people to get them to pay attention. You really don't."

"The babies there, the children and the old people are dying."

Sam Nordstrom is sniffling but remains on post, waving and holding his sign. The Loveland High School senior forgot his gloves but decided to stop in Loveland before going home after protesting earlier in Fort Collins.

"This is the first one I've been at down here," he said, adding that he's attended the Fort Collins demonstration five times.

Although only 17 and not yet old enough to vote, Nordstrom still has politics on his mind.

"I look forward to it," he said of voting. "With the elections coming up, Bush and the oil industry, it's just such a ploy for oil and political gain."

Mosley looks a little warmer than the others with his multi-colored jacket and hat and the salt-and-pepper beard he's been growing for 30 years.

The Loveland man sums up his views in big, red letters on a white poster board: "Only love prevails."

"It's a universal truth," Mosley said. "Look to the history of war. It's always a temporary solution. The data supports me."

Unless Loveland is radically different than Ft. Collins, (which it ain't), this guys is a damn liar! The truth is even more than the other way around.

Gee, a commie, liberal, socialist sympathizer lying about something. How weird is that? </sarcasm>

"I don't know what the other group is named," she said.

Never heard of the VFW but probably thinks she is a good American? Naaaahhh, just another damn liar!

Must be some kind of anti-truth residue in their crack pipes.

The gloves are off, a double FReep is coming. A DOUBLE FREEP!!! I can spare an hour or so to get Loveland to Support Our Troops. I can spare two hours to make sure the leftists don't get in the only word.

Get fired up gang!

Fort Collins, Noon to 1:00.
Loveland, 1:30 to 2:30.

Wouldn't it be great if we beat them to Loveland and give them a warm welcome? The poor useful idiots need to get the same reception in Loveland that we give them in Fort Collins.

fivetoes, do some recon- find us some good parking.

I wonder if they choose the Northwest Corner? I have signs for that!

I wonder if they choose the Northwest Corner?

Yes, they have chosen the Albertson's parking lot which is the NW corner. There is a much better spot,IMHO, on the SW corner. It is a long parking lot right along the HW-34. We could park and protest right next to our vehicles. Why we could even have a tail gate BBQ.

I will have to finally get fresh batteries for the ole bullhorn. I worn them down tonight on the corner of 287 and 34 rallying for the Republicans.

Some of us could be waiting there for them. We need a big SUPPORT OUR TROOPS sign. Of course bagpipes and fife and drum would be wonderful.

Maybe the Ft. Collins VFW could ask the Loveland VFW to join them in their own backyard.

And then maybe it is time to get a FreeRepublic.com banner.

Gee, wonder where that young man heard that line about Bush and Oil being the reason for the war? Don't you just love it? He hasn't a clue about the oil industry and you just know it. Just repeating the party line like some Zombie!
I don't believe they get 10 to 1 positive feedback from the public. Sorry, that does not compute. Typical liberal, can't tell the truth!
