Flashman_at_the_charge,

RE: Reply 1501

You get my nomination for "service beyond the call of duty". You are prohibited by law from participating in our election process, yet you went the extra mile to encourage a U.S. citizen to participate in the election in support of freedom and the rights of the unborn. Well done, sir!

"She told him she wanted a job, not an abortion."

GOOOD FOR HER!!

It is sooooooo sexist, and OFFENSIVE of Dems to assume the most burning question on EVERY woman's mind is whether she can get an abortion on demand.

My wife and I just returned from voting here in east Tennessee. Straight Republican ticket EXCEPT For Lamar! Alexander...went with the more conservative Connie Gammon for Senate. (Don't panic...Lamar! has a HUGE lead.) I also wrote in 'Alan Keyes' instead of voting for our unopposed Republican congressman Bill Jenkins, who is just a little too enamored of the United Nations to suit me. (Sent a message when it wouldn't do any damage.) Lottery? NO! Most of my friends (all Republicans/conservatives) voting this evening, since Republicans have to WORK to pay for all the Democrats sitting around the house all day. Looks to be a LONG nachos and beer night...(I have neighbors from Minnesota...PLEASE, Norm...kick Mondull's a*s...that's ALL I want for Christmas.)

My wife and I just voted, Straight Republican Ticket. Our precinct (Texas) is heavy GOP, and there was a very heavy turn out.

Voted straight Republican Ticket in Connecticut, with Simmons for the House. Now I settle in to watch returns, and try not to get stomach cramps, as I did on Election Night 2000...

NerdDad voted at 4:30 p.m. CST Precinct 1 Columbus MS. Republican where there was one, against the incumbent where there wasn't, NO to amendment extending judge terms to 6 years. I was voter #724. Mrs. NerdDad voted at 5:30 p.m. and was voter #800. Poll workers said they had been busy all day. Vote numbers are approaching 50% of precinct. Wet weather and few interesting races probably keeping the number down here. We got gerrymandered out of the Pickering/Shows race.

New ballots this time. We had butterfly punch ballot in 2000. Today we had a color in the oval paper ballot which was fed into an OCR reader. If the ballot was invalid for any reason it was rejected by the reader and returned to the voter for correction. Otherwise the voter number was incremented and the ballot stored in the sealed machine. I assume that there are internals to tally votes but only the voter count is displayed. A nice mix of technology that is human verifiable if necessary. Should make vote counting/reporting quicker here. We'll see.

Voted a straight GOP ticket here in GA....gotta get rid of King Roy & Taxin' Max!

About a 50% turnout & people still coming in late this afternoon.

The new touch screen voting machines seemed to be working well when I was there, but some people said they'd been giving problems earlier....hope that's not going to be a Problem...

Another reason I'm glad I got out of Berkeley and now vote in Oklahoma --

from http://abc7news.com Bizarre News

"Vote: Beans And Pot

Beans and pot. Those are two of the ballot issues voters here in the Bay Area will consider tomorrow. In Berkeley a ballot measure would make it a crime to sell brewed coffee that isn't made from politically correct beans. The PC joe must be made from certified fair trade, shade-grown or organic coffee. But the coffee cops wouldn't be looking at the type of beans used in homes.

And in San Francisco, voters will decide if the city should be growing marijuana. The initiative would make it official city policy to explore the establishment of a marijuana growing and distribution program. The city pot would be for so-called medical uses."

I don't want to hear any excuses....

I was even in a car accident this afternoon and still made it to the polls. Refused to vote for my democratic congressman since he was running unopposed. Did vote for the great John Warner- R

OK, as of this moment - 6:30 PM EST - MSNBC is kicking FOX's keaster in election coverage. FOX is continuing to focus on the general news of the day with not nearly enough actual election coverage not to mention WAYYYY too many commercials. I am entirely disappointed! I hate to contribute to the NBC kitty with potential ratings, but on election day I want election coverage. I'm a political junky (gee, imagine that and I'm logged on to FR) and FOX is driving me nuts with their inane coverage. Britt Hume is my regular fair at this time of night, but I find myself in the unusual position of actually picking up the remote tonight.

Weather update: raining cats and dogs in south GA - this is a heavily Chambliss area by all reports - if you're local do NOT be deterred we need your vote.

I voted about 10:00 this AM and the polling place was busy, 9 - 10 folks voting or waiting to vote. The poll watcher told me that earlier they had a line out the door.

I just got a wrong number phone call from a Dem get-out-the-vote lady urging me to vote Dem as MANY Dems in Summit County CO had not voted. I said that was wonderful. She hung up quickly.

Checking in from New Jersey. Just cast my vote for Forrester and every other Republican on the ticket. After-work turnout looks good in my area.

You'd be absolutely surprised at how many young Blacks, males especially, are thoroughly DISGUSTED with Jesse, Al, and the entire Democratic party. You'd also be shocked to know how many of us who reject all THAT garbage have embraced conservatism.

I know I am. Jesse, and Al make me sick. Nothing but lip service. The liberal black leadership in this country does nothing but help deliver elections to their white liberal counterparts. This seems to be their sole purpose for existance. Unforutnately, the peer pressure in the black community that keeps blacks voting for Democratic candidates is unbelievable.

I voted in St. Louis county at about 10:00 AM this morning. Lines were not long at that time, but it looked like there had been heavy early turnout. Slow steady rain and drizzle and cold all day. I voted a straight Republican ticket, but I like to savor the moment, and punch each name individually!
