I'm surprised no one else posted this earlier.

On Wednesday's Special Report with Brit Hume, Mr. Hume had Bill Kristol on during the one-on-one segment early in the show. Mr. Kristol, citing the infamous 'senior official' in the DNC(I think it was the DNC), said he promised this official not to say what he was about to say until after the elections. His tidbit was, according to their polling, the 'rats *were* going to pickup governor seats, house seats and maybe senate seats. That was until July 19th.
Mr. Hume asked what happened on that day. Mr. Kristol's reply: Bonior and McDermott got on tv and said they believed Hussien before they'd believe President Bush.

Doesn't that say quite a bit though? Before Republicans and Freepers pat themselves into complacency, we should look long and hard at the overconfidence of the Dems that brought about their missteps. The country might very well have been in a very different place today had it not been for Bonior, McDermott, Belafonte, and Wellstone. Lautenberg's win shows the unbelievable candidate on the dem side can oftentimes win. One thing that is revealed is certain softness in the Democrat base: blacks for instance apparently stayed home in larger numbers. Repubs have to get the disgruntled blacks and the rising middle class blacks and latinos over to our side. If the government re-education centers are not immediately targeted, however, that will be a difficult proposition. Yes, I agree, I hope they keep moving left and I hope the Bonior's and Pelosi's of the world take them right into the Pacific. V's wife.
