AMERICANS broadly agree on two facts about the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq: its brutality and the danger it poses to themselves, especially the danger of nuclear attack. Disagreement arises primarily over what to do: Take out the regime now? Give Baghdad another chance? Follow the United Nations' lead?

I don't disagree with you. But there are productive ways to work towards your goals, and there are counter-productive ways.
Joe McCarthy is the poster boy for counter-productiveness.

Congratulations to you for your stand. By the way, "backwater" or no, your school may someday be more sought after precisely because it reflects a genuine spread of scholarly opinion.
For one thing, I think an increasing number of parents - those who bother to find out about their kids' colleges, at least - are not going to want to spend over $40,000 per year to have Junior indoctrinated by Muslims and the American-hating left. Granted, parents have been just shrugging and docilely forking over the cash for years now. But I think there's been a change in the national climate, and hopefully parents and alumni will start expressing themselves the only way that counts - through their wallets.
And once again, you can count on the moral support of all your fellow Freepers!

If I had a college age son or daughter, who was exposed to this radically biased stuff, I'd jerk the student out, and write letters to the regents, the President, the local papers, and the student paper. Based on my experiences with Cornell, odds are the regents, the President, the local paper and the student paper are all far left and will agree with the commie prof 100%.

We need another Joe McCarthy, plain and simple. The modern Joe McCarthys are leading the PC movement that allowed this liberal nonsense to florish.

Don't anyone get me wrong. I don't relish the idea of even suggesting that we resort to such, but we can't deny what America is turning into. Centrism ain't gonna work against the Perverts who are nowadays openly going after our kids.

"I think we've run out of people's butts to kick and that we essentially want to keep the butt-kicking going."I agree. I say we start with the profs who hate America.

Add this flaming "Professorial" Hater to Pipes' list.
Saint Xavier professor Peter Kirstein
Text of an e-mail sent from Saint Xavier professor Peter Kirstein to an Air Force cadet in response to a request for information on how to promote an Air Force event on campus:
You are a disgrace to this country and I am furious you would even think I would support you and your aggressive baby-killing tactics of collateral damage. Help you recruit. Who, top guns to reign [sic] death and destruction upon nonwhite peoples throughout the world? Are you serious sir? Resign your commission and serve your country with honour.
No war, no air force cowards who bomb countries with AAA [sic], without possibility of retaliation. You are worse than the snipers. You are imperialists who are turning the whole damn world against us. September 11 can be blamed in part for what you and your cohorts have done to Palestinians, the VC, the Serbs, a retreating army at Basra.
You are unworthy of my support.
Peter N. Kirstein
Professor of History
Saint Xavier University
