The only thing those rich liberals in the Chicago Gold Coast Penthouse wanted Belafonte to do is sing the bananna song vote last week and then shut up until the next election.
Contrast that with Condi Rice and Colin Powell in the White House.

Since Belafonte insists on the plantation metaphor, here's how it would go.
Colin would escape to the North, only to lead a Black Brigade in vengeance against the South.
Condi would kill her drunken slave-owner as she blazes a new underground railroad for the abolitionists.
And poor "Chicken George" Belafonte would be singing and whoring with his massah.

"...which was a fundraiser for the Chicago Committee to defend the Bill of Rights."
Some how this doesn't quite add up. I wonder if they know what's in the Bill of Rights?

'I didn't say anything that you haven't been saying,' Belafonte told the gathering, who responded with chuckles and applause. Do those chuckles and applause constitute an admission by those in attendance that they share Belafonte's views?

I cannot believe that the audience was laughing at his statements, this is testimony that the Democrat Party is the real plantation where you are not allowed to say what you think for fear of being called out as an 'Uncle Tom'

LMAO

The remarks Belafonte made were the most racist remarks made outloud by a well know personage of the decade. He is obviously out of step with his own people and his legacy has been made by his remarks, not his voice.

Which is why Secretary Powell never bothered to get even mildly offended at anything Belefonte had to say. The man is confident in his convictions, and could care less what others have to say about him. This philosophy is in stark contrast to the method and personality that has been guiding the Deomcrat party since at least Kennedy.

It is fitting that Condi Rice and Sec. of State Powell answered this below the belt mentality from Belafonte with words fitting their persona, honest and true, love of God, family and country.

Someone once described Hank Williams as "a million-dollar voice (pre-inflation) with a ten-dollar mind."
Don't know why everyone thinks being a talented performer makes a person relevant in any other area of life.

Very true.

Thanks for the ping...but, what do you think about this type of racism? Any solutions or ideas to erase this nit-wittery, and prevailing, mindset?
IMHO, it's not going to go away any time soon. I'd play the game, but the ball is not in my court right now.
Mustang sends.

Honestly that reaction doesn't surprise me on the part of rich liberals. (both white and black in attendance)
They cannot understand how Condi Rice can achieve with out Affirmative Action and using her God Given abilities to EARN her position in the White House.
So they degrade her with racist comments.

Thanks for the ping...but, what do you think about this type of racism? Any solutions or ideas to erase this nit-wittery, and prevailing, mindset? This type of racism is far more prevalent than you would think. It's just come out of the closet of late, thanks to Belafonte and others with foot-in-mouth disease.
As for how to eradicate it, I don't have any easy answers. About the only thing that comes to mind is for those of us who are and have been targeted to remain on the high road. Turning the other cheek as it were. After all, discretion is the better part of valor.
I would presume that over time, as the whiners continued their tilting at windmills, more people would see them for the fools they are.
