Reginald and Johnathan Carr were both sentenced to death for four murders in Wichita in December 200.

The jury in the Carr capital murder trial, which last week convicted the two men of the murders and a long list of other crimes agreed that both men should be executed for the capital murders.

The two will be sentenced by Judge Paul Clark tomorrow on the remaining charges.

Ya know this AP article is so typical. The reporter just can't bring herself to mention the FACT that the Carr brothers are black and ALL the victims were white.

Ya know I'm gonna go ahead and say this. I've been holding my tounge all this time cuz I don't know this lady but if Roxana Hegeman(reporter) is anything like her husband then ARRRG. Her husbands was my son's band teacher. Note I said "was".

Nah, I don't think the Carr brothers will invoke any sympathy, even on PBS or NPR. The only "sympathy" will come
indirectly and only from the very staunchest of the anti- Death Penalty crowd, for whom NO
crime in horrible enough to justify the DP. The Carr Bros.
story is as brutal as these stories get, every bit as calculatedly evil as the Maryland sniper story, and it's somehow even worse, because more personal, involving hours of terror, rape, and eventual up-close murder, with every act of violence committed in full view of helpless others. The Lefty Press and Media will do their bit, as they usually do, by
OMISSION---this story only got a passing glance from them, at best, when it happened, and how they are handling it now,
with the judgements in, will be problematical, since they took no public position on it at the outset.

Death is too good for these animals. I hope they suffer immeasurably at the hands of their compatriots.

Right. And this sin of omission is just the start. It's passive advocacy. Next comes the "story behind the story." Then the sympathy pieces start ... the miraculous reformation the Carrs have undergone, the sensitive poetry they write, the touching generosity they show the other prisoners and fuzzy woodland creatures ...

We had a Death Row Denizen who raped, bludgeoned, strangled, and stabbed a girl to death all so he could steal a $10 radio from her house. He sat on the Row for almost 20 years. When the time finally came to ash his hash, the media were full of stories about how changed a man he was. It was enough to make me puke. Before that, I'd always felt the death sentence should be carried out with due respect for its gravity. After this treacly campaign, I was ready to open a t-shirt stand outside the cell block.

The only survivor of the shootings, then a 25-year-old teacher, ran naked through the snow to get help after she and her friends were taken to the field, lined up on their knees and shot.

Recently I saw this young woman on tv and heard part of her testimony. My heart broke for her and the ones killed.

Thanks KS for all your good work keeping us informed.

Carr Brothers Sentenced to Death, Victims to Speak to Courtroom on Friday

Reginald and Jonathan Carr were given the death penalty by a unanimous jury today.

The Carr brothers were given four counts of death each for the four counts of capital murder they were convicted of earlier this month.

On Friday morning, victims’ families will give their impact statements to the court and the defendants. The judge still has to sentence the Dodge City brothers on 85 other criminal counts, including one count of first degree murder, rape, robbery and other crimes.

The Carrs were convicted earlier this month of 93 total criminal counts, stemming from a crime spree in December of 2000. That spree culminated with the deaths of Aaron Sander, Jason Befort, Heather Muller, and Brad Heyka in a snow covered soccer field in northeast Wichita.

Oh yeah, one other thing she left out of the article was one of the family members said something like, how is that for a birthday gift, to Regianld, and he yelled back at them something the local media said they could not repeat on the air.

Thank you! There just couldn't have been any other way, for sure. Although I believe that these non-humans did not have 'brain damage' (doing an eyeroll) I certainly can't see a normal person committing such atrocious crimes.

Thank the Lord for a THINKING jury; there is justice after all.

How long does it take for death sentences to be carried out in Kansas?

Too long...it was reinstated here in '94. There are four on death row now--soon to be seven counting the Carr brothers, but still no executions since '65.

Except that, after lethal injection, I would suggest their bodies be drawn and quartered then fed to the hogs.

Yep. We can't put them six feet under fast enough as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, strapped to a bed in the high security facility in ElDorado, Kansas. That is where I think I heard they keep the needles here in Kansas.

I believe the facility at Lansing will get that priviledge.

Once the needle is inserted, it takes just a few minutes. :-)

Actually, no one knows -- we've had the death penalty since 1994 but we haven't executed anyone yet. We've got several guys on death row, though, so it shouldn't be much longer.

How long does it take for death sentences to be carried out in Kansas?

The last two executions in Kansas were carried out on the gallows [now retired in favour of death by lethal injection] at Lansing in 1965.

That was the sentence carried out upon Perry Smith and Richard Hickock, murderers of the Clutter family in 1959, made infamous by the book and movie In Cold Blood. The two parents and two teenaged children were shot in the head, and Mr. Clutter also was stabbed in the chest and had his throat slashed.

Newspaperman Bill Brown of the Garden City Telegram ended his report on the executions in the paper's April 14th 1965 edition with the words:

Perry Edward Smith and Richard Eugene Hickock will not kill again. This is the only certainty that came out of this damp, chilly, unforgettable night.

Channel 12 reported Reginald was in court in shackles again today as he tried to fight with the guards earlier in the day.

These two guys were on trial for FIVE murders, what happened to the other conviction? Anybody.....
