12 MURDERED IN HEBRON ATTACK
Nov 15: Twelve people - 9 soldiers and three civilians from the Kiryat Arba emergency response team - were killed and 15 others wounded Friday night in Hebron when Palestinian terrorists opened fire and threw grenades at a group of Jewish worshipers and their guards as they were walking home from Sabbath prayers at the Cave of the Patriarchs. The dead included civilian worshipers and soldiers, some of whom were caught in an ambush as they pursued the attackers. Three terrorists were killed in the attack, which was claimed by the Islamic Jihad.

The victims:

Netanel Machluf, 19, of Hadera; St.-Sgt. Yeshayahu Davidov, 20, of Netanya; Sgt. Igor Drobitsky, 20, of Nahariya; Cpl. David Marcus, 20, of Ma'aleh Adumim; and Lt. Dan Cohen, 22, of Jerusalem. The three civilian members of the Kiryat Arba emergency response team killed were Yitzhak Buanish, 46; Alexander Zwitman, 26; and Alexander Dohan, 33.

Thanks. One of the martyred, Ari Weiss, was from Dallas. I didn't know him, but some very close friends of mine have been close to his family for almost 40 years. His father, Rabbi Weiss, was a pulpit Rabbi in Dallas before he migrated to Israel. His mother, Susie, was born in a "camp" in Europe after World War II.

Ari attended school here in Dallas and maintained friendships here even after moving to Israel. Ari was killed by a sniper bullet as he went back to to help a friend who had been shot.
