The U.S. Supreme Court has finally put an end to the year-long misuse of public funds by the notorious Mary Frances Berry, head of the U.S. Commission of Civil Rights.

Without comment, the court yesterday declined to review a unanimous ruling of the U.S. Court of Appeals that forbade Berry from blocking President Bush's appointment of Peter Kirsanow to sit on the commission.

Not long ago on BET, Ms. Berry advocating letting anybody who showed up at the polls vote; count the votes and check the validity later.

Good plan, huh?

It is so nice to see her lose. Berry makes me sick. She is more than just dishonest, more than just corrupt, more than just demagogic -- she is one of the true villains of American politics. I would rather have dinner with Carville.

Dump her. She's a drain on the budget.

The sour grapes are about to come out. I expect that she will purse her lips, pick up her marbles (as many of them as she can find), and go home muttering to herself about the Florida election of 2000.

========= FR Judicial Watch in the USA =========

HEROES:

The U.S. Supreme Court ending misuse of public funds
and a coup by Mary Frances Berry (D, US Commission of Civil Rights).

Judges Guy Jr., Leavy, Silberman - Expanded wiretap guidelines do not violate the Constitution

9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals - Court blocks legal challenge to detention of Afghan war prisoners

ZEROES:

In Los Angeles, US District Judge Robert Takasugi of Los Angeles issued a preliminary
injunction blocking enforcement of the US citizenship requirement for airport guards.

In Washington, US Appellate Judges Clevenger, Friedman and Prost
ignore false statements and fraud at the US Patent Office to prevent US citizens
from ever patenting instruments capable of looking for alternative energy sources.
The Court purported measuring energy output has "no utility" for the US,
even as Amicus Curiae were gagged who would have testified otherwise,
and as foreign companies (e.g. Mitsubishi) have staked out all relevant patents.
[Meanwhile, the US Patent Office routinely allows patents using
astrology to predict lottery numbers, claiming they have "operability".]

Give the old racist coot the boot. Now there's a rhyme Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can chew on.

She is the head of a useless out-dated institution. If the President takes any action, he runs the risk of making it a campaign issue. Let her wallow in her self-made swill.

I agree, JV. She will try to make an issue out of leaving on her own. As long as W ignores her, she won't have a platform.

Why not just de-fund the commission? Does anybody think the commissioners would do this for free, from their own pockets?

I got the feeling that Jeb Bush made mileage by ignoring her one-sided investigation and hearings in FL.

That would take congressional action and brings attention to her. Don't get involved when the enemy is in the process of destroying itself. President Bush can do more by bringing some quiet sanity to the commission by putting a couple of his appointees there over the next six years. IMO

Bwahahaha!!! Mary Frances Berry couldn't even get Jeb booted from the Florida governorship on Nov. 5th. In hindsight, Jeb's move was an act of pure genius. He made her look goofy and allowing her base to vent their feelings of frustration and anger made them less likely to take it out on him at the polls. So in a way Berry's blatant partisanship in FL both put the Dem base to sleep and energized the Republican grassroots. Can you spell winner??? Berry has no idea how to play real hard ball politics and Jeb masterfully showed her how its done. Bottom line: she's demonstrated she's not fit to play in the big leagues.

Good editorial. The Post pulls no punches.
I do disagree with this one in a way, though. Please allow me to repost from an earlier thread:

I hope Berry is Chairwoman for life. The "commission" as it stands is an impotent laughingstock, totally lacking in any credibility. This is largely due to Berry's presence and chairmanship. Why change anything? If the Republicans don't have the stones to close down this silly commission and take the political heat from the scumbag liberal newsrooms, then the next best thing is to just leave it alone, as is.

I thought, since the President prepares the budget, he could just leave the commission out, or put it in as a line-item with a zero next to it. Let the democrats try to fund it.

LOL. The commission wouldn't have looked any more foolish in FL had it been chaired by Marion (the b!**h set me up) Barry.
