There is a recurring pattern in the Book of Mormon that appears appropriate here. The cyclical pattern finds a society poor and in despair. They find God and enjoy prosperity through their faith. In time, they forget the source of their blessings. They enjoy the prosperity and turn away from God in a secular society reminiscent of what we see brewing in current Western civilization. Having lost their moral compass and appreciation of the blessings from God, the society decays and falls apart.
The Islamic world is poised to take advantage of the secular Western society that currently revels in prosperity with little interest in God. They will destroy our economic prosperity. We will become a poor society in despair for lack of guidance from God. The cycle will repeat, but the grand question is whether Judeo-Christianity or Islam will dominate.
As Americans, we need to stand up for the constitutional republic and the Judeo-Christian values that inspired it. We can't sit back passively or the militant Islamic element will crush our republic and leave us under Sharia law and in the stone age forever.

Both fail to understand that the benefits they seek to appropriate grew out of the Christian culture underlying them Ah yes. I forget. Which religion was it that imprisoned Galilleo for life. Executed and tortured other scientist 'heretics'... Inquisition ring a bell?
Western philosophy, rule of law, and the renaissance are why we have superior technology. NOT religion.

Or...
We realize that there is little need to understand a spiritual or philosophical world in order to wage war. Whatever beliefs one might hold will not deflect a bullet; nor has a prayer ever kept a bomb from dropping out of the sky (or a plane from hitting a building).
I could care less whether their beef with us is based on religion, politics, or the price of cocaine in Saim. If there's a god in this, it doesn't matter.
"Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it, religion has actually convinced people that there's an INVISIBLE MAN...LIVING IN THE SKY...who watches every thing you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten special things that he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry for ever and ever ´til the end of time...but he loves you."

Actually, there have already been at least eight Crusades, so your title should read "Crusade IX."

This is the way I see it. Good will triumph in the End. Which means since we are at the begining of the "Religious War" the side that repents and moves closest to God will win in the end. Since we have moved away from Christian self examination it will be easier for us to move back once we wake up as a "people" but how long that will take and how many live lost first is anyones guess. This is a spiritual war being fought here on Earth in this realm and the "good guys" have lost their way. It is my belief and faith that we will be forced to get back to basics if you will but this war will pale compared to WWII. In the End the righteous side will win...which means the West will will have to repent.
