ABOUT MICHELLE

Michelle Malkin began her career in newspaper journalism a decade ago as an editorial writer and columnist for the Los Angeles Daily News. She continued at the Seattle Times in 1996. Her column, now syndicated by Creators Syndicate, appears in about 100 papers nationwide.
Malkin has appeared on The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity and Colmes, The McLaughlin Group, The Lehrer Report, and 20/20. She is currently a FOX News commentator. Oberlin College is in Ohio!

Now, you guys have TWO things on common:

1 - She apprciates the power of Christian Radio, and
2 - She went to school in Ohio!

"...The Heisman trophy was originally called the Downtown Athletic Club award (DAC), and was originally presented to the top player East of the Mississippi.

The DAC commissioned Frank Eliscu to sculpt the Trophy. Eliscu used Ed Smith from New York University as the model. Smith would not know he was the person on the Trophy for 50 years. Eliscu was born in New York City, July 13,1912. He passed away on June 19, 1996 in Sarasota, Fl. at the age of 83.

Following the death of the Athletic Director for the DAC in October of 1936, The DAC renamed the Trophy after it's AD, John Heisman.

Johann Wilhelm Heismann was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1869. He changed his name to John William Heisman when he enrolled in Brown University. He played Tackle for Brown. He then transfered to Pennsylvannia where he lettered for two years.

Following graduation from Penn., Heisman became a coach rather than an Attorney. Heisman began his coaching career in 1892 at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio...

Forgive me if someone has already proposed this...
but I suspect that Ms. Malkin has taken up the cause of exposing the sordid track record of
our INS for two reasons:

1. She doesn't want radical Islam to do to the USA what it's doing with The Phillipines.

2. She's basically a fair person (besides being smart).
She probably has heard from her parents about the paperwork and bureaucracy they
navigated in order to join us here in the USA.
And she's probably compared that to the miscreants who the INS treats as "customers"
(always right) in the cases of the Beltway Snipers and The Talented Mr. Atta and his crew.

I know a bit of the challenge for the immigrant/visiting Phillipino/a in the USA.
When I was in graduate school in the early 1990s, one of my fellow graduate students
was a Phillipino; a calmer, more Catholic-observant fellow you'd never meet.

One afternoon he came into the lab and was absolutely fuming (totally out of character).
I said "What's the problem?".
He said "I am so mad. I have spent three wasted hours with the INS. If I'd known that
the INS was such a mess, I'd have flown from Manila and sneaked across the border
to get to graduate school.

She is a graduate of Oberlin College.
This is what I simply find amazing.
My graduate faculty advisor got her undergrad degree from Oberlin.
While she was an observant Catholic, she was about as liberal as they come.
IIRC, some of the "free speech" movement folks in the 1960s at Berkely got their
undergrad degrees at Oberlin.
