Well, I'm willing to be proven wrong. But Kissinger was too much of the real politik school for my taste. I know that a country's foreign policy has to be realistic and hard nosed, but I think it also needs to reflect the nation's values, and I never was convinced that he was willing to draw a line in the sand, if it had to be done.

We've had investigations into:

Lewinsky, Tripp, Richardson, Vernan Jordan
Waco
 

Can anyone tell me the overall outcome of these investigations.  I can in one sentence.

Did anyone think this investigation into 09/11 failures in security was going to develop any serious allegations?  It's another sham to pacify the sheeple.

The Warren Rudman/Gary Hart Anti-Terror Commission that has put out two reports over the past two years would also have been very good. Hope those two are on the commission.

To be fair to Kissinger, he's a resident of Manhattan or works there so he was as close to the Attacks and the subsequent tragedies as you can get.

When Clinton is called to testify as to why he did nothing to stop the terrorist attacks before 9/11, I hope he doesn't try that "IS" is crap again. I don't think America will fall for that one this time.

It's a good choice, and someone with actual stature, not another Warren Rudman or John Danforth.Kissinger has a very sharp mind and will ask the right questions.

Hey you mentioned all those hearings I remember watching live on C-Span the Senate Whitewater hearings run by Al Damato (R-NY). Richard Ben-Veniste was lead counsel for the Dems. Good old Senator Al started to ask a witness about Mena and drugs and Ben-Veniste pipes in with a line like this "The Senator should remember that I was the lawyer for Barry Seal. I don't think that you want to start questioning who did what in this case as it includes Republicans and Bush " Al shut right up and changed the subject. I saw it happen. Can't give it an exact quote but I 'll never forget the event. Of course anyone who thinks anything happened there is a conspiracy nut. Leason: company men will always protect the company.

There is a big difference between critical appraisal of a situation and partisan fault finding. I think that Kissenger can be relied on for the first, apparently you are more interested in the second.
